    Firmware version

Are the boxes currently being shipped loaded with the new 2.1 firmware or do I have to update the firmware once I get the box? Are the firmware updates pushed and installed automatically or is there an update process that must be followed?

    Thanks

    It's all automatic...
You should be able to check the version you're running from the System Info page.

Thanks... I wish I could check the version... My box is currently at a FedEx location in Phoenix AZ. FedEx Ground Estimated arrival date: 01/06/09.

As Greg stated it's fully automatic.

During your initial setup the box will check for new software and will download it. Then setup will continue. After this, the box will begin an initial database download with all the titles of the movies on the box.

Then after all this, the box will continue to download over the next few days, first the "heads" of the movies and then finally all the movie posters and placards. The "head" is the first 30 seconds of basically every movie. This is one of the things that allows you to watch the content instantly w/o any delay.

So if you don't see graphics for all the movies right away, just wait a few days and they will fill in.

It's probably got a 1.x to 2.0 version loaded on it, IMHO. 2.1 just came out.
