    SHARE MY MOVIES: bug

A user who accepts an invitation is not presented with their UVVU.com credentials during their process of accepting and signing up.

However, they can click on the "UltraViolet Site" link under their profile on vudu.com and it takes them to the UVVU.com site with passing their credentials for them via API.

The problem is they then have free reign to delete titles from the UVVU library by clicking on a title and then clicking on the trash can icon.

This could erase hard earned titles from an owner's account without their knowledge or permission.

Either standard users on the UVVU.com site need to have their permissions to delete titles removed or Vudu.com needs to take out the API link to UVVU.com for users setup this way.

Make sure you trust the people you're inviting to your account. Standard members have the ability to delete movies from the UV library. Basic members don't have the rights to stream.

      Understood.

IMHO, a standard user which is what is created from this feature though automated API calls, should not have the ability to go into the library and start to whack titles from the owner's collection.

Only a "Full" user should have these rights.

Daniel, Vudu is now promoting the share feature and to reiterate Walter's point, either UV should not allow standard members to delete movies or Vudu should not enable the autologin into the Ultraviolet account. Cinemanow and Flixster do not provide the UV autologin feature, while TargetTicket does.

Unfortunately, the roles are controlled by UV. We could give invitees a "basic" account, but they won't be able to stream, which would defeat the purpose of this feature. You may want to shoot UV support an email explaining your thoughts and concerns about the "standard" accounts being able to delete titles from the UV collection.

            Hi JohnA,

            that has been done.

If I can respectfully make a suggestion. There is a check box an invit-ee need select indicating they understand that purchases they make will be added to the UV account they are linking to. They have to select this check box while signing up.

A similar check box should be made clear for the invit-or they need check indicating before sending out an invitation reading:

"Be WARNED. THE PERSON YOU ARE INVITING WILL HAVE FULL ACCESS TO AT WILL DELETE ANY AND OR ALL TITLES IN YOUR UV LIBRARY SO YOU HAD BEST BE GOOD & SURE THEY ARE FRIENDLY AND YOU NEVER DO ANYTHING TO UPSET THEM. OTHERWISE, YOUR ENTIRE INVESTMENT IN ULTRAVIOLET TITLES EXISTENCE REST WITH THE WHIM OF THIS PERSON YOU ARE INVITING".

            Sincerely,

            -Walter S

Yes the more users that complain to UV about this the better. But Vudu is a member of UV and should carry more weight on this issue.

.........And you will never have to worry about accidental purchases or changed settings.
I would say deleted movies are a changed setting.

surely while developing this new integration feature, Vudu developers were in contact with staff at DECE in respect to the API in use. This is a extension of the use case testing which should be followed up on. I agree with the G.G..

...but I do have a UVVU.com case open as well.

Here is the response I received from UVVU.com support.

                    Hello,

Thank you for contacting UltraViolet Customer Support.

Regrettably, at this time, Standard users have the ability to delete titles from the UltraViolet library.

UltraViolet is constantly working to improve its services. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know and we would be happy to assist.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this process,

                    For Frequently Asked Questions http://www.uvvu.com/faqs.php
So apparently they regret the ability of standard users to delete movies.
Lets hope it is changed soon. I am not holding my breath, but maybe they will fix it.

Permission to delete movies is not actually listed as one of the permissions of standard users, but they do have it. I think the ability to delete movies was added after permissions of the user groups were defined and it may have been given without much thought.
