Kingsman: The Golden Circle - Is it Ultraviolet?

The preorder is only showing Movies Anywhere, and I got an email from Movies Anywhere about preordering it.

    Will it eventually be UV?

I read on another thread that the physical packaging only mentions Movies Anywhere, and UV is nowhere to be found. So I think it is highly possible there will be no UV token for this film.

Keep in mind that one of the reasons I have heard that UV failed is that there is a steep fee charged to redeem for a UV license. I believe it is 50 cents. And it is split between the retailer and the studio, so a quarter each. May not seem like a big deal to you , but to them it is. Amazing when Vudu was charging $1 for 10+ D2Ds - they were probably making nothing or just pennies on each.

The mass migration to MA is because that fee either has dropped very significantly or altogether. Not sure how Disney is charging its MA partners, but whatever it is it is far more attractive that what UV had in place.

So you will be seeing studios pulling UV as they do not want to be paying both services for one film, therefore cutting into profits. The migration to MA will be very fast once Paramount and Lionsgate (and others like MGM/HBO) join. This is because UV has ongoing costs to operate, and will not be able to sustain ops when all or most new releases go MA only - so UV will not linger at all. Everyone is getting shocked at how fast things are moving. But they will move much much faster when the holdouts are on board.

The big question is what will happen to UV TV shows. I imagine what could happen in theory is that UV could transfer its operations to Movies Anywhere, and when Disney launches 'TV Anywhere' it will just convert the licenses.

Can we get an official comment from Vudu on this? I had 'Shot Caller' have a delayed application of the UV license, so I just wanted to know if this was a delay, or if no Ultraviolet license is coming.

It will probably be UV enabled when it gets released on Bluray. Plenty of movies dont get UV enabled until then and afterwards.

It still only shows as Movies Anywhere. With the negotiations going on between Disney and 21st Century Fox, I would not be surprised if Disney has required them to pull out of UV in an attempt to make MA actually try to look better.

Can you stop jumping to conclusions? Detroit was released today and it?s a Fox release. It?s also UV enabled. Disney hasnt bought Fox yet so it shouldnt matter.

You're confusing a Fox produced movie (Kingsman: The Golden Circle) with a movie that Fox is just distributing (Detroit). The former Fox decides whether it is part of UV, the latter the Production companies decide if it is a part of UV.

Also, I wasn't jumping to any conclusions, I was simply presenting a very likely reason why Kingsman: The Golden Circle is not on UltraViolet. It is very common for the buying company to ask that the company which is being bought to make business and policy changes ahead of the purchase; especially when the company being purchased has ongoing business deals and/or policies which run counter to the purchasing company's direction. In this case, Disney does not allow any of the movies completely produced by itself or any of the companies which it owns to be part of UltraViolet. So even though Disney has not bought Fox yet, it does matter.

As of Monday, Disney became the only company seeking to acquire Fox, with that in mind it is not unreasonable to think that as part of negotiations that Disney asked that Fox delay adding anymore of the movies which it has produced to UltraViolet until at least after the negotiations have been finalized. Then starting yesterday there have been reports that say, "Fox, Disney on 'glide path' for Thursday deal announcement." https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/12/fox-...t-sources.html

Fandanognow's page for Kingsman: The Golden Circle is not showing Ultraviolet either...so it's not an issue of Vudu updating their page. I think it is safe to say Fox is pulling Ultraviolet support.

Curious if this title will ever get UV status. A friend who has a connected Vudu account with me wants to watch it, but unfortunately cannot now.

Usually Vudu adds UV status by 1 or two days max after bluray release date. It is now 5 days since release and no UV status. So not looking good. I wouldn't hold your breath.

Vudu really just needs to come up with their own sharing system that allows all of our movies and tv shows to share with our family/friends that have connected accounts and that way they and their customers no longer have to worry about or deal with UV. If I'm not mistaken iTunes and Google have their own sharing system so there's no reason Vudu shouldn't have one of their own.
