At this point, I do not see that happening at all. Now, if the story breaks CNN, Fox, Entertainment Tonight, or Hollywood Squares, then yes, the wrong information could get out. RI going under is a very, very small story.

      I got it from a news page..cover story...lol

But yeah, the more coverage it gets the worse..

We all have heard people sit around the table and talk about this or that company screwed over a friend or family member. Depending on the type of service, it unfairly comes to reflect on the industry instead of just the one company. Home warranties are a good example....when someone relays to a group of friends about someone they knew had trouble with American Home Shield, suddenly it's ALL home warranty companies are a scam, even though it was just the one company that they had issues with.

(Just picked that out of the blue, btw..)

Buying a physical copy the only way to 100% guarantee you will have something forever, or as long as you want to keep it.

The trend is into the UV ecosystem. I do think we will hear of other store fronts going UV or dying on the vine in the coming months.

Heck, just this week two tectonic announcements occurred.

add to that, the Wal-Mart Insta-Watch feature add and there seems to be a lot of folks lining up to capitalize on this year's holiday season behind the UV brand as a distinguishing value add. That little purple logo is gaining significant market inertia. No doubt there.

A lot of you are misunderstanding what my point is, apparently.

My concern wasn't WHY they went under.....

Think of the average person out there who has NOT gotten into UV yet, or one of the ones who absolutely hate it, and they hear about all of these people that lost movies they paid for because RI closed up.
I get your point, but to the average person, this isn't even on their radar. And the whole fear of digital from basic consumers is slowly dwindling. We are much more used to the idea of cloud storage and digital licensing and online buying then we were a decade ago. And that is the genius behind the Ultraviolet, if one provider goes down, 10 more can take it's place and you won't have lost any movies in your UV locker. Yes, one provider might not have licensing for a few films that another has, but they're always still there. This is still a positive for UV and I am sure they have some very smart people that they pay a lot of money to spin that for them.

BTW, the bigger news for UV is that amazon is joining. Even then, I prefer Vudu, but it does throw more clout behind the brand.

I won't hold my breath waiting for Amazon to join...

Comments like "in discussions" and "is considering" are all I have seen so far.

A year ago I heard that they were thinking about it too.

Actually, we all heard the same things one time about Redbox Instant, too....lol
