Does Vudu randomly give you free movies?

Okay, I'm not complaining, but I was just going through Vudu, seeing if there were any deals and whatnot then I checked My Vudu and somehow I have "Drive" in My Movies. I didn't buy it, and my history has no charge for it, it is just listed as my last added movies, but I didn't disc to digital it either today/yesterday/ever, it's just there now. Any idea how or why?

    Thank you,

    Billy.

have you linked your Vudu account or UV account to anything that had that movie in it? or are you connected to another account via UV and maybe they added it?

I know when I first joined here years ago I was given some free HDX movies ..... if I go to my account info I can see 'HDX Booster Pack' listed under saved promotions... check that maybe it was given to you when you joined?

that's a safe bet, probably ported over from another service.

          To answer the original question:

No, unfortunately vudu does not randomly give customers free movies.

Although that would certainly be festive.

Thank you all for your insight, I appreciate it. But I am honestly still a bit at a loss on how I got it, I do have connected accounts from Movies Anywhere and Disney, but I don't see where it would have come from either. Like I said though, I'm not complaining since it seems to have been free, and it's a movie I eventually would have Disc to Digital, just curious why it was 'gifted' to me. Thanks again, folks, Billy.

It could have been a bonus redemption from the studio. For example, when I redeemed the 4K UHD code for Ghost in the Shell, I received a bonus copy of Aeon Flux from the studio. This bonus came from the studio and not VUDU. Check your VUDU transaction history to see if you redeemed any other titles on the date you got Drive.

Another possibility is that it came from another linked digital retailer that flowed to Movies Anywhere and then to VUDU. This happened to me once on Google Play. I launched the App on my Sony Android TV, and Google offered a free digital copy of Amityville: the Awakening.

Drive ported over from your MA account.

I know this is a long dead thread, but I had the same question. I have movies in my Vudu account I?ve never purchased anywhere. These include Ghostbusters (2016), Ice Age, Carriers, Conan the Barbarian, The Italian Job, and Rango. I don?t share any accounts with anyone, either.

Ghostbusters and Ice Age likley came via linking with Movies Anywhere as that had a promo when it first launched. Check your balance and history to see when they came into VUDU.

Movies Anywhere gave me 3 free movies once, when they "refreshed" my library. I never bought or redeemed codes for them. Two of them were Disney titles, one was Fox, which I guess is now Disney, but this happened a few months after MA launched.
