Will UV Code Still Redeem if I Already Own the Title?

I know this is something I should already know. but I don't . . . I D2D'd the theatrical version of The Internship. However, I just bought the Unrated version on Blu-ray, which came with a UV code sheet. I don't know if the code will redeem Unrated or Theatrical; if it only redeems Theatrical, will the code still redeem even though I already own the title, thus rendering the code useless? I don't want to waste the code for nothing . . .

Depends on where you redeem it at. If on Vudu it will add it to your account as a "Saved promotion" in your account info and it's basically stuck there forever. One easy way to see how it will redeem is search for the movie on Vudu. Wherever the redeem tab appears is the version it will redeem as. It looks like the Internship redeems as the theatrical so don't waste your time. You'd have to take it to Walmart to d2d it if you want the unrated. That's what I had to do for that particular movie and a couple others since the code gave me the theatrical and the movies are too new for the at home d2d.

I'm seeing Redeem tabs on both the theatrical and unrated pages, and they have different URLs. This is the one that says "Unrated": https://my.vudu.com/redeem.html?pdefid=30:4733.

Use the link MaxH provided to try and redeem the code. If the code is for the theatrical but you try to redeem the code for the unrated version then Vudu will give you an error message without redeeming the code.

It gave me "Invalid code", so I guess it's only for the theatrical cut. Thanks for the tip!

if you bought the physical BRD version of a title unrated, it is my experience that the UV code insert will always redeem the title of the same cut. I have never seen where it would redeem a theatrical when you purchased an unrated version. Others may have examples of this happening, but I do not.

In this case, you should end up with two cuts in your library. The theatrical from D2D and unrated from the insert. Not sure why the code is not working. You can ping the vudu support team and they can assist.

I have seen cases where the UV code, D2D or Instawatch was theatrical even though the disc was unrated. That seems likely here since the OP's code is invalid in Vudu with the unrated edition, though it may redeem as unrated at other UV sites.

I recently had a similar experience with Woodstock (The Director's Cut) on BD from the Walmart $7.88 bin. Instawatch redeemed it as a non-UV version, ostensibly the director's cut but a different transfer from the BD (DVD perhaps). I found the actual director's cut (a UV version) in Vudu and redeemed my UV code there; it worked and carried over to other UV sites as expected.

The only movie I can think of that didn't do that was Hansel and Gretel. I bought the unrated version and redeemed the code and it actually gave me both versions. Pretty much every other movie I bought that was unrated redeemed as the theatrical version.
