I have over 100 movies on Vudu so far, but the more I use it, the more annoyed I get at the whole UV experience.
First, you have no control over the quality of the films. If there is a flaw with their digital copy, you are at their mercy. Example, I opened a ticket with Vudu about video errors in Godzilla vs Megaguirus. Complete with vidcaps of the errors. They patted me on the head and sent me on my way saying that they will " see if they can send us a new encode of the movie". That was in May, still not fixed. I get the fact they have no control over it, that is my point. Another example, Rebirth of Mothra I and II both have a lot of lag when playing them in either Target or Flixster. They have yet to fix it. The there are all the Godzilla and Rebirth of Mothra movies that are in Japanese on Vudu, English with other services. Hokey, just hokey. Far too many inconsistencies.
Second, sometimes the wrong movie gets associated and customer service doesn't seem able to fix. Example, when I try to play a movie I own, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002), on Target or Flixster, it plays Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1974). Sometimes it even comes up as Planes: Fire and Rescue.
Third, I have a movie (Naked Gun 33 1/3) that, despite being in the UV locker, comes up as "content unavailable" when trying to play in Flixster or Target. Also, Mars Attacks! won't play on Vudu unless you switch on Roku's surround setting, then nothing BUT Mars Attacks! will play.
Fourth, after pulling out some blu-rays yesterday, I realized how much I missed the BR experience. The special features, the sound, even the well designed menus.
Fifth, I am sooooo tired of the over inflated pricing for UV content. The pricing for UV movies and TV shows is so over the top it isn't funny.
Sixth, other than Vudu, EVERY other service out there is total garbage. CinemaNOW, every single movie I have is listed 2 to 3 times. Flixster and Target, read my complaints above. Without Vudu, the whole UV service would be a total disaster. Which tells me that Vudu has done a wonderful job on their end (whether it is digital content or UV content) but that the UV format is a joke.
