Re: VUDU branded "Spark" Streaming Stick...

The sad part is the lady behind the electronics counter asked me to produce a picture, which I did. As she leaned over to look at my phone, her foot touched the box they were in! She said that the screen said that only select locations had them, and they didn't have them. It was the department manager who knew they were in that box that was even opened.

Just picked up 2 from one of the Walmarts here in Durham, NC so they are definitely out there.

Yeah, some stores released them early. Oh well. You may see a number of firmware updates in the near future to improve performance/responsiveness...

It took an update when I installed it. I only used it a bit, but it played my movie just fine. I'm glad I got it before Christmas. My daughter gets the other one.

I checked my closest Walmart and no luck but we're usually one of the last places to get new items here in NM.

I wonder how many Sparks are active as of today. I don't think I've ever been this far on the leading edge of anything!

Is it really just a 'one trick pony' with only VUDU? I know it will not have streaming from Netflix or Amazon Video but does it have any other apps at all?

                  It's just Vudu.

That's really lame. At least have some non competing movie streaming apps like Weather or Radio or Music or YouTube etc.

I think your suggestion is a wee bit late.

It's not a suggestion but a complaint and a reason why I would not buy it. Also, it's never too late as software updates can add things in the future.

Noted. I am pleased that it only has Vudu. That's the only thing I ever stream, so I appreciate it's simplicity. If I wanted all the other stuff, I'd by a Chromecast or a Roku. Vudu Spark is exactly what I've been waiting for. And after all is said and done, it's very, very inexpensive, you could say free. $25 price tag with (according to Vudu FAQs) five $5 credits. I'll take it!

Yeah, I rarely stream anything other than Vudu and with the 5 $5.00 credits it doesn't cost a thing. I don't see why anyone wouldn't take this deal especially if they're always purchasing movies from Vudu?

I only took this deal because I don't have nor do I want a Blu Ray player on a dumb TV in my house. My other TVs all have Vudu some other way, either a stereo or a Blu Ray. I am wondering how well the stick will work in a hotel. I've found that some hotels block Vudu.

This isn't meant to replace your Roku or whatever, its great for traveling or bringing your UV collection with you to a friends house for example. Plus it's basically free.
