Fault in Our Stars Extended attempts to redeem as not Extended

I attempted to redeem the code from Fault in Our Stars Extended edition through foxredeem which prompts me to pick VUDU and all seemed well until getting to the VUDU screen and it wont allow me to redeem as I already own Fault in Our Stars regular edition. So I attempted to redeem straight on VUDU using the redeem link on Fault in Our Stars Extended page and get an error code. I placed a VUDU Support ticket on 1/14 and still have not heard back.

I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and if so, if that issue was resolved to obtain the Extended edition of the film.

Believe it or not the following was stated to me in the help ticket for this very issue (180114-000310). This shocks me.

"Unfortunately, we are unable to support codes included with discs purchased from any retailers other than Walmart or Sam?s Club."

I cannot believe a help desk agent would make a statement like that as I thought VUDU accepted most every code from most every production studio. I think the help desk agent is mistaken.

Have you tried redeeming it on MA to see if that gives the proper version? Might be worth a shot.

I thought about that but I'd like it UV as well and doing MA will negate the UV. Whereas doing UV will also get MA.

The studio decides what version of the movie it given upon redemption.

Thank you for the clarification. That makes more sense than what was placed in my Support Ticket.

Unless the voucher specifically calls out for the (extended, directors cut, etc.), theatrical is almost always given. This is sometimes stated in the fine print on the voucher as well.

While it wasn't in the fine print, Fox did clarify the code is for the regular not the extended even though the code came in the extended edition.

Unfortunately they also told me that since the code passed their system and was passed to VUDU that it is now an invalid code even though it didn't actually redeem as I already have the regular in my VUDU account. Glad I already had the movie. Sucks the code is dead and I can't gift it to someone.

Also it is odd VUDU has a Redeem button on the extended version when there actually are no codes for the extended version.
