Why are these movies only in SD?

    Why are these movies only in SD?

    These movies are available in HD at another UltraViolet retailer. However, they're only in SD at VUDU. Will VUDU get in touch with the studios to try and get HD transfers? There are quite a few I'd like to watch in HD. I'd understand if there was no HD asset available from the studios but that doesn't seem to be the case. (The * in the titles below indicate non-UV status.)

      LOL. Chill Factor I actually saw that at the movies. A friend of mine wanted me to see a specific movie theater in Los Angeles. It was the only movie playing there. We were the only ones there.

      Some of these movies can be found HD elsewhere so there's still hope. Other movies like Steel Magnolias were SD only on Vudu but HD elsewhere and eventually got HD here at Vudu. The Freshman is at MGO. Police Academy 4 and Superman 4 at CN. I'm sure more also.

        Add Papillon and The Lookout to that list. I've converted them on other services as well as Bird, The Mission, The Karate Kid and Look Up In The Sky, The Story of Superman in hopes that Vudu would eventually get them in HDX.

          Wow, I was just going to start a new thread when I found this one

          There are a ton listed above I would already own if they were HDX.

          These are the ones I am hoping go HDX soon, they are all available from other providers in HD(X), so the studios definitely have the HD masters to provide for each one of these films! I wonder whey these HD masters were not sent to vudu in the first place?

          I'd really appreciate if the studios could be contacted to so they can provide vudu with the same HD masters sent to other providers.

            It's been over two months since my post. Since then, VUDU only upgraded 2 movies to HD and while 5 more movies were added as HD at the other UV retailer but remain SD at VUDU.

            If VUDU want to be the premier, high-quality UV retailer, why do I have to watch all those movies elsewhere if I want to see them in HD? HD transfers of these movies seem to exist.

            These 20th Century Fox movies got HD versions:

                  Ladyhawke? Really? Still SD after all these years?

                  The Blu-ray was released in May 2015. Certainly enough time has passed to make this available in HDX.

                        I looked at Sony's web store. I'm not sure what store you were looking at. Only some of the movies in the list(s) are sold by Sony but the ones I found were sold in HD.

                          Thats what i get for not checking, it was about 3 months ago i was looking for see no evil hear no evil in hd. and i looked at 8 or 9 titles on the sony store at the same time and all were sd only. now the ones i looked for then are not on the sony store any more. Sorry i should have fact checked before this post

                            Perhaps Jake or Felipe at VUDU could reach out to SONY and get new HD files of these obviously-available HD titles ...
