    Universal UV Status Question

Hi, the pinned post states that "select" titles will no longer be UV. Please can you provide a list of these select titles. I would really appreciate your assistance on this matter.

FelipeF Are all the titles that get UV still marked as UV on Vudu until 9/4?

Also, can you confirm that those with UV rights will still see the titles on Vudu?

Thank you Felipe for your response, I have already emailed the studio. However I would appreciate if we could get a response before the change happens rather than after the event, as I don't expect a respond in the next 12hrs & it is the long holiday weekend to boot. I am very surprised that Vudu is unable to provide a list since they will be applying the change.

I would also point out the original post is vague at best, it does not state if its just Universal Studio releases or all the sub studios & indie studios they distribute for.

None of this would really even matter if Vudu would implement some sort of family share option. I really expect a lot of Vudu users to go to the other side - it's a shame since I very much prefer Vudu over iTunes. They just don't seem like they want to progress to keep their customer base happy.

This feature is dependent on the studios allowing this, this is something Vudu cannot implement on it's own.

Yes, your current Universal UV rights will remain intact.

I'd just assume all Universal Titles are just not going to be UV going forward, unfortunately it's the studios most likely forcing the changes on VUDU with this I doubt it's anything in VUDU's control as it's more so the studios forcing the changes on how their movies are delivered to the public, VUDU just has to support the direction in which the studios want their movies delivered on this I'm sure...

I understood FOX dropping UV with the pending sale to Disney who owns MA, but I don't understand Universal and Lionsgate.

At least Universal is also MA while Lionsgate is at this moment not MA or UV.

This only leaves Sony, Paramount, and WB as the big studios with UV.

Google, iTunes and Amazon all have some form of library sharing. Do the studios just hate you guys or something?

UV is going bye bye sooner rather than later. The UV studios have contracts and are still paying for UV redemptions. I am sure the studios no longer wish to pay for these redemptions, especially when they are in Movies Anywhere, and there is also a large annual fee for the studios to be in Ultraviolet. I assume Fox was the first to sign on board UV, hence their contract ended first. Second was Lionsgate. Third was Universal. Expect Warners and Sony next and perhaps very soon. Paramount and other non-Movies Anywhere studios can follow as well, as Lionsgate is not a MA participating studio (yet).

My concern is the UV only titles. As in titles that are not MA or won't be MA. And of course the TV shows that are UV only. Let's hope that is all worked out, sooner rather than later.

Is this something Vudu is actively pursuing with studios?
