The Fandango at Home Forums are designed to help viewers get the most out of their Fandango at Home experience. Here, Fandango at Home customers may post information, questions, ideas, etc. on the subject of Fandango at Home and Fandango at Home -related issues (home theater, entertainment, etc).     My collection is pushing 500 movies at this point. I just recently purchased a Samsung JU7100, and have 100Mb unlimited bandwidth internet. I would absolutely upgrade every single movie in my collection if they would give an upgrade option for both HDX and UHD.

    This upgrade option is a huge question among my group of friends. We all have very large HDX collections... I think knowing a UHD upgrade would come one day would be all we need to really cement VUDU as our home for movies. I think I want to know that what I'm buying on here won't one day be considered worthless like the huge VHS and DVD collections I used to have.

    Which new DVDs are $20 that are D2D?

    Edit: Sorry, misread your comment. Yes, that is true, but they probably are assuming HD nuts will jump at the UHD with the new TVs, so why allow D2D or sales if they assume they can get top dollar? Same reason why we will probably never see D2D TV shows.

    Well... now people use a DVD, upgrade to HDX for total of $2, when they are selling them for nearly $20... That's the exact same dollar differential as your example...

    I don't see this happening for a long time, if ever, mainly because someone could use a DVD, get the HDX for $2, then upgrade to UHD for a total of $12, when they are selling them for nearly $30. They know they would lose a lot of money.

    To make UHD more popular and with the current pricing it would make sense to offer an upgrade price.
    Hopefully they can work something out with the rights owners.

    I will not pay full price to upgrade to UHD. The quality difference just isn't worth full price. If it is the difference between UHD and UHX then I will most likely upgrade some of my previously purchased titles.

    I have really yet to see them do this for SD to HDX except when they did a trial promotion on certain TV series, so I doubt you can do this with SD to UHD or HDX to UHD. It would be nice if they would offer something like this, but I am not holding my breath and will just wait for sales to show up.

    I mentioned it before. Take $50, heck even $100 a month from me and let me watch and movie / tv show in any quality / format, as much as I want.Seriously studios would get their money worth much easier.

    They get constant revenue stream. I don't the hassles or having to find all in and outs for easiest and cheapest own what I want.

    Just let me have access to everything for one large fee.

    IE Netflix on double dose of steroids.

    I want this just as much as everyone else, but the studios will always have the same valid excuse. 4k Blu-ray is coming out now. We wouldn't be able to walk into a brick and mortar shop and exchange our old copy of a movie on Blu-ray, for a $5 upgrade to a 4k disc. Despite it being the same film, it is a new product. That applies to the digital realm as well unfortunately. Its why I believe studios are reluctant to join D2D programs. They know that they are losing out on profits, and there is no way of enforcing that the disc you used is actually your own. We are heading into some very tricky territory now that things have shifted to digital. The definition of ownership has now been extended more towards long term borrowing. I've gone off on a tangent though. The short of it is that 4k is a new product, so the only way to profit from it is to charge for it as a new product. Its very unfortunate.

    It seems to make too much sense to not be put into effect at some point but it probably depends not just on vudu but also on the content owners.

    I'm not going to repurchase a UHD movie for 30.00 when I own the HDX version. The best way to handle this would be to support an upgrade plan or provide it at a reduced cost for current owners. Especially when we have been the ones to support Vudu.
