    Vudu UHD vs HDX

I've been posting about this for the last few days and had a few posts removed which I don't like.

Something is going on here and after this post, I am contacting Vudu Support.

Here's the deal. I have a Samsung HD TV and I bought a Samsung UHD TV. I got a Roku 4 so Vudu UHD would play. Right off, I was suspicious of the picture quality and I thought there was very little difference in the UHD and the HDX picture. Today I connected both TV's up side by side and watching Into the Storm at the same time. The new TV playing the UHD version and the other playing the HDX version.

I am telling you there is absolutely ZERO difference in the picture. I mean nothing different and this whole thing about Vudu UHD is a scam. I recorded both screens with my camera and wish I could put the video here.

I am going to ask for a refund of that ridiculous $25 cost for the UHD version when I already had HDX. What did I get for my money ? Absolutely NOTHING and was cheated out of my money.

You delete this post and you will have a lawsuit to answer.

It's not a scam, I can clearly tell a difference between UHD and HDX. I really think it's your setup or your settings. What was Vudu support response to your refund request?

I'm writing this not to support either side but IMHO... When I switched from VHS to DVD I went WOW...When I switched from DVD to HD DVD and Blu-Ray I went nice, great picture. Looking at UHD I still go nice, great picture. To each his own but the captivation is just not there. I think the OP is experiencing that.

On a side note: If I was just getting into home theater watching.... I would be putting my money into the audio portion first.

What kind of bandwidth do you sustain from your ISP? It might be that you have enough for the highest bitrate for HDX but only for the lower bitrate for UHD.

Also, some UHD TVs don't support 10 bit color input on HDMI. Try to enable 10 bit color output in the Roku video settings, and if your TV doesn't recognize it, the Roku has to convert it to 8 bit color before sending it to the TV.

Now I'll admit I've been critical of Vudu, but this made me laugh.

65 Mbps and it's over the bars with the speed test. I am sure about this and I think the same settings can be achieved with HDX in Vudu at least by adjusting the contrast, brightness, sharpness, etc...

The Samsung JU6700 and Roku 4 Model 4400 are very capable of very good UHD but it is just not there in the Vudu movies. I have not received a reply yet from Vudu customer service.

And for the wow, wow at UHD... Yes, I had that but with very few of the UHD that is available and I was expecting that wow for a total price of $45 for UHD that I paid here for each of my two movies.

I'm serious, I believe there will be lawsuits over this because it involves so much money. I like Vudu a lot but I want it right... I also like Walmart a lot.

PS.. About internet speed and local network speed. I use Netgear AC and my internet is cable unchecked for use but limited to about 65 Mbps... on my local network, I can transfer files at over 40 MB per sec... that's megabyte not bits...

My Samsung only supports 8, 10, and 12 bit color on the 1st HDMI input which is where my Roku 4 is connected. That's pretty crappy of Samsung for that and most people probably don't know that the other 3 HDMI inputs only support 8 bit.

Here is the latest... now I am getting this message again in Vudu.. it happened once before but I rebooted everything and it cleared up... now Vudu says or at least I think it is Vudu since that's the app that I have open..

HDCP 2.2 Disabled is disabled, playback will be in HDX and it plays but it says it is UHD on the left where I have the options for playback...

Again, the Roku 4 is supposed to work with Vudu and I know my TV will display it.... I looked up HDCP 2.2 and it has something to do with copy protection... my Samsung is supposed to have that so I thought maybe the cables... tried every cable I have and now the same error... and now it's doing it every time no matter how many times I turn everything off.

I've been reading around the internet and it seems a lot of people are having this same problem but not everybody comes here... they may to Samsung, Roku, etc...

Actually it IS a joke. A lawsuit over a deleted post? What lawyer would even take that case?

This forum is supposed to be part of Vudu and for support of the product... it is not for internet trolls that do nothing but browse online sites so they can be sociable.

A lot of money is involved in this and people are paying it but if that money is being taken and the customer not getting what they pay for then a crime has been committed. So if that's all you have to say, maybe you should try Fakebook.

Vudu support has not answered so far.

Samsung is coming to my house because they can't believe the problem.

I have not talked to Roku yet.

I tried to upload screen photos here and that don't work so there must be problems here too.

I don't own any Vudu UHD movies yet because the prices are so high but I did try "Jupiter Ascending" for the 2 minute preview on UHD and it looked great on my TV. I've since returned my Roku 4 because of video/audio sync issues so can't test it again until my UHD player comes in next month.
