    Family Play

    just a couple questions.......

#1 ... is this going to be coming to Roku Ultra (or any Roku really)..

#2 ... is this going to be added to anything rated above pg-13?... would make a lot more sense to me to add this to titles rated R and Up....

#3 ... I see I'm able to manage the "Family Play" setting on my computer but will it only work on my computer or will that extend to every device my account is signed into?

    #2
I had to connect the HDMI directly to my Chromebook and TV and was only able to stream in SD.
Currently that is my only option.

I have Chromecasts, Roku3, and an older Samsung SmartHub.

https://www.vudu.com/content/support.html what they have posted ........

Does Family Play work with every movie?
Family Play is available on select PG and PG-13 movies (including movies from our free collection) with more coming every week.

      What devices support Family Play?
Family Play is available on web, iOS, Android, Samsung TVs*, LG TVs*, and Xbox One.

hopefully both of those get expanded

You guys dont see an age setting where you select and age and under. Mine goes up to Teen when I chose 12 and Under.. You have to explore the ages on your device. Mine is on my Roku in Vudu under "My Movies". I had to play around with it. You also have to consider what the Movie Studio set the ages for. Plus it also has Common Sense and tells you what it shown in the movie or heard. Thats how I figured it out cause I was a little confused like yourselves.

you're talking about "kids mode/ratings" .... we are talking about Family Play.... just go to their blog and you'll see - two different things.... ( https://blog.vudu.com/vudu-launches-...entertainment/ ) ... Kids Mode/ratings I see just fine on my devices.... just not the Family Play....which is a way for you to watch a movie and customize what you see.. mute language/take out nudity/etc... but for the moment it's not on roku... and they're only doing it for pg 13 movies... which doesn't make sense to me.. how many pg13 movies actually have nudity or much language.. unless you go back to like the 70's or something... I know some of those older shows need to be rated differently ..

            What is Family Play?
Discover a new way to watch with Family Play. Customize your experience to seamlessly skip past or mute strong scenes of sexuality, violence, substance abuse, and language based on the preferences of you and your family.

Family Play is available on web, iOS, Android, Samsung TVs*, LG TVs*, and Xbox One.

Why did Family Play skip/not skip a certain part of a movie?
Skips and mutes are determined based on a number of different contextual factors, and each one may not necessarily be aligned toward your personal preferences. Viewer discretion is still advised.

What if I have feedback on a movie with Family Play?
If you have any feedback regarding Family Play, please reach out to our Customer Care team at 888-554-8838.

Can my child turn off Family Play?
You can set a 4-digit PIN in settings to restrict your child from exiting Family Play. Do note that the PIN is specific to the device you set it to so you?ll need to set a PIN on every device you use to watch Vudu.
Can I watch Family Play with closed captioning?
Closed captioning is not currently covered by Family Play. When you watch a title with Family Play turned on, if closed captioning is turned on, objectionable content will be skipped or muted, but objectionable words will still appear in closed captioning.

Can I watch Family Play with Chromecast or AirPlay?
Casting via Chromecast or AirPlay is not currently supported with Family Play.

What if I forgot my PIN?
Don?t worry! If you forgot the 4-digit PIN on a mobile device, you can exit Kids Mode by entering your Vudu password.
For living room devices such as Samsung TV, please contact our Customer Care team at 888-554-8838.

*Family Play is available on LG TVs released in 2017 and up, and on Samsung TVs released in 2016 and up.
2017 Samsung TVs are currently not supported.
2019 LG TVs may not mute inappropriate language when connected to an AV receiver via ARC. To ensure proper skipping of inappropriate language, please make sure your TV audio settings are set to Auto.

Is there a place to request certain movies to be added? At my last count it appeared they were up to 604. Besides adding new releases, I wonder how they are determining what movie to add next. Clearplay has a fairly decent amount of movies configured to stream by other means. I wouldn't think it would be hard to convert what they have ready to work with Vudu.
It would be nice to see them add a site for requests on the enhancements such as adding Roku or other TV models too!

How were you able to see the total list and count them?
I would love to see the A-Z list of movies that are Family Play. I hope Vudu adds a sortable lost of them. Mostly because I want to show my kids cool movies clean.
We just watched (Raimi) Spider-Man 1 and 2 and Godzilla 2014

I don't see an A-Z filter, but that's the list.

Any update or more information on when Family Play will be available for Roku devices? All of my televisions in my home use Roku devices so I'm anxiously awaiting support for this new feature.

I am very happy to see this new family play capability on Vudu... I am anxiously awaiting for Roku support cuz I have not been able to enjoy family play in my home yet as all of my home devices are Roku.

I was a little disappointed by the generalities of the filters. will be there be more finite control coming in the future? I would like to see more control in choosing the various family play filters... four categories is just too broad of a paint stroke. I am currently a user of vidangel and would love to see the granularity and control that they offer with their default filters... their system allows me to pick specific words as well as more specific granularity in a whole host of filters... I have my default filters dialed in pretty nicely now so almost all my filtered viewing is perfect.

Until Vudu can offer Roku support my only option is vidangel which limits me to only the movies compatible with MoviesAnywhere...MoviesAnywhere allows some of my Vudu library to port over to Amazon Video which is where I can then watch my movies edited wiith the vidangel system but this leaves me with a huge hole in my library because only 2,300 of my movies port via MoviesAnywhere leaving almost 1,000 of my movies stranded in Vudu... I would love to be able to watch these movies edited so I am very anxious for the Roku support.
