Downloading titles to a thumb drive (MAC)

I have a MacBook Air with very little onboard storage, but I want to take my movies on the road with me to watch offline. I bought a SanDisk 128GB thumb drive, and I have VuduToGo on that drive.

When I download a movie from the app, it goes to some magical unknown location which I can't find. The app still accesses it, but if I take the thumb drive to another computer, the downloaded movie isn't there. How do I make the downloaded movie be accessible to VuduToGo from within the thumb drive?

Please tell me I don't have to buy an entirely new computer just to watch the movies I already own!

You can't download them on a thumb drive and transfer the content to another computer. It breaks the movies and makes them unwatchable.

You may be able to change the storage location, search the threads, but not sure if you can put on a portable drive.

On a Mac, the default location for VUDUToGo's downloaded cache of movies is here:

        Hard Drive/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.vudu.air.Downloader/Local Store

You can move this "Local Store" folder to a USB thumb drive. And then create a "symbolic link" (aka "symlink") of it, also named "Local Store," to replace the original in that com.vudu.air.Downloader folder. Past and future downloads will play fine. This works. I just tested it, with success.

Just note, of course, that you will have to have the thumb drive inserted any time you launch VUDUToGo, otherwise the app won't work at all.

There are a couple of ways to create "symbolic links" on the Mac. This may be the easiest one. Make sure the symlink you create is specifically named "Local Store" and nothing else. Remove the "symlink" suffix, if one is added.

        I hope this helps. Enjoy!
