Disc+Digital and Disc to Digital are both great programs that only VUDU offers. There is a lot of discussion in this thread about being different than other providers. These are ways at this moment where VUDU is different.

      That's correct!

To me, this is kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. I'm not spending nearly as much as I used to, perhaps others are reacting the same way due to the uncertainty, revenue falls as a result, and Walmart tries to divest themselves.

Vudu is testing out version 3 of its interface with new features etc. Usually if a company is planning on a quick exit or sale they would not continue to invest in the future development of their platform. That being known, it is likely that either a) They will hold onto Vudu for the foreseeable future, or b) if they do sell it would be similar to a Fandango now purchase of M-Go where the entire platform stays intact with all users, etc.

I don't seem them 'dumping out' like Target Ticket did.

I agree. With all the new features that have been coming out as of late, I don't see VUDU making a quick exit. Personally, VUDU is my favorite service to purchase and redeem and I'm sure many of you share the same preference. I will continue to support VUDU and their new features in hopes of growth.

The Wall Street Journal posted this article today. I don't think Vudu allows us to post links in the forums anymore. Advanced talks, it seems like a done deal even though it hasn't been finalized yet. These "leaks" are almost always intentional. Not wonderful news because they are responsible for FandangoNow, but better than a closure from inability to sell it off. NBCUniversal in Talks to Acquire Streaming Service Vudu from Walmart

If Comcast ends of with Vudu, like reports state, I will be done. I will lose a lot, but will slowly move to another streamer, assuming they changed anything. If nothing changed, I would stay put, but I know Comcast!

This is very concerning. Vudu is so much better than FandangoNow. It would be terrible if they were merged and we lost a lot of the good stuff Vudu provides, including this forum!

FN and vudu would obviously merge, but i'd hope that they keep VUDU's UI and features with FN sales and rewards. . they'd most likely keep the fn name

They should just stick with what they do best (over all the other retailers), and provide the best service to those who want to buy/store/watch their movies and TV shows on-line and have access to them across many devices. There are just too many other deep-pocketed big names throwing tons money at streaming right now, and in the end most people are not going pay to subscribe to 4-5 streaming services every month. People have been dropping their $200+ monthy cable TV bills with 200 channels. Why would they want to go back to paying for multiple streaming services every month.

The folks on a budget are only going to pay for 1-2 streaming services at a time. I for one selected Netflix and Amazon Prime (which is already included in your Prime service). If I want a movie from Disney, I'll rent or buy it on sale. If you have little kids who watch a lot of TV, then go for Disney+.

The reason Disney+ got 10 millions subscribers already is they are giving the service away for free for 1 year to all verizon wireless customers with unlimited plans. Apple TV+ gives you a free year if you have bought a new Apple PC/iphone.

Even if you aren't on a budget, you can't possibly watch enough on 4-5 streaming services to justify the cost, and besides it is a waste of your hard earned dollars.Select 1-2 with the most bang for your buck, and give them your money.

Anyways, I for one hope Vudu stays in business as it has been my main choice for buying/redeeming digital movies for many years. iTunes is my second choice.
                      I totally agree!

I am not an expert in this, however I seem to remember that around the time that sites like Ultraviolet and Flixster (and sites owned by Target and Best Buy) started, companies weren't allowed to both sell and stream their own product, so studios like Disney, Warner Bros and Sony etc, had to rely on third party retailers to sell their product then they could stream it on their own sites. These policies and rules broke down as studios began to buy these once retail started purchase/rental streaming sites. Unfortunately without government regulation, this streaming services war is going to get out of hand with the consumer as the main casualty. Everything is driven by money, so of course every company only looks out for its own best interest.

My current total of movies on VUDU is 760, on Movies Anywhere & Fandango NOW its only 585.

I am very surprised that the main attraction to VUDU is not the fact that you can have almost 100% of your movie titles on one site.

I am not familiar with the other retailers like Google Play, Prime Video, Apple TV /iTunes and Microsoft - can they also offer that?

This news makes me feel like they're ready bought vudu, Fandango Now is available on Fire sticks,
now Paramount and Lionsgate titles that didn't show up on MA on Firestick are on FN, along with Tv shows you might own. The app was released 2 days ago.

This is all very concerning for me. I have all my stuff in Vudu, including TV Shows, and concert videos, surfing movies, mountain bike videos, etc , stuff that will never port over anywhere but Vudu. What's going to happen with those titles?

I never liked MA because it was just a subset of my collection, and not very good support for Dolby Vision / Atmos.

I don't know why it would be concerning for you. Big businesses don't buy other businesses to shut them down unless it's a small business that is impacting on their prime business in some way. They bought Fandangonow because they wanted to expand into the digital sales realm. The problem with that is since it was Mgo that platform has had a horrible interface with no sorting ability. About the only purpose for it has been for people to buy movies that would port over to their primary viewing platform. If any service vanishes with this purchase it's going to be Fandangonow being merged into Vudu. The only real losses we might see are the end of the M2D and D+D programs. However even that is unlikely since Universal still participates in the M2D program.

When it comes down to it I think Vudu will be perfectly safe and will quite likely wind up with even better sales since Fandangonow currently has the best sales for new movies. The only thing we will lose is Instawatch and credit codes from Walmart. That's not a huge loss though since Walmart has been tremendously reducing the volume of those lately anyway. And even that isn't a guaranteed loss because Comcast might still want a retail partner to help with promotion so why not stick with the one that is in place.

I agree that this is all how it SHOULD go, but it does NOT mean it actually will go this way. I hope you're right.

I don't know where you're seeing where FandangoNow has the best sales for new movies? I hardly ever buy at FandangoNow because they are usually the same or higher priced than others such as Vudu or iTunes.
