VUDU TO BE ACQUIRED BY FANDANGO

    https://blog.vudu.com/vudu-to-be-acquired-by-fandango/

HAVEN'T SEEN THIS EMAIL MYSELF YET

    Hi Vudu customers,

We have some exciting news to share with you!

Vudu has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Fandango, the ultimate digital network for all things movies & TV.

While there will be many more exciting things to share in the months ahead, nothing about the Vudu experience is changing ? your movie & TV library is safe, and you will continue to have access to all your Vudu apps across your favorite devices.

Vudu will continue to deliver an amazing experience, and we promise that the future will bring more new features, offerings, and other benefits as we join the Fandango family. In the meantime, you can find more details here.

    Sincerely,

    Vudu team

I hope if anything FandangoNow keeps the Vudu interface rather than going to the FandangoNow interface. FandangoNow also needs to keep the servers and bitrate that Vudu does since FandangoNow has always had poor streaming quality -- especially for UHD titles.

Totally agree. FandangoNow does NOT currently support Dolbyvision either. The entire reason I bought a DV TV is for Vudu.

I'm mostly curious what this means for D+D and Instawatch.

Vudu relies entirely on Walmart.com for D+D fulfillment, and Instawatch is driven by WM.

Once the sale is finalized, we may no longer get early digital copies as Fandango doesn't have WM's retail presence.

Time will tell, but overall this sounds like the best we could hope for, considering other alternatives it could have been. I hope they allow Fandango gift cards on Vudu!

            D+D & IW - SECOND THAT !

They are one of the reasons I have thousands of movies here.

I JUST got a new 4K Dolby Vision set this last weekend and reason I choose that model was was because of DV support, specifically for the my Vudu collection.

Will hold off from buying anything here now as FN interface is horrible. Hopefully VUDU just stays the same.

Red the FAQ people. Might help calm nerves, somewhat.

That is a fairly standard pre-acquisition FAQ. You'll see similar answers at any company that is getting acquired or merging.

Specific questions (like Instawatch) are not likely to be answered until after the sale, and there will likely be changes after the acquisition. FN and Vudu run similar businesses, but on different technology stacks. One will give way to the other. Or parts will be merged. But the company isn't going to maintain two completely different services for the same essential product.

Over the past 7-8 years, I've spent more money on Vudu purchases than I care to admit. Also dealt with FandangoNow Support on a few issues in the past and none of them were ever worked out. FandangoNow Support is the worst of all digital providers. Once disc to digital and IW are gone in a year or two, who will buy physical media from Walmart? This is a sad day for me, basically means I'm done spending money on Vudu and growing my digital library because I will not spend any cash at FandangoNow.

Worst possible buyer. Was hoping for Amazon, Apple or Google
