Family Movie Sharing Is BACK - Kind Of

So for all of you that were disappointed when UltraViolet went away so did the family sharing option with Vudu...

There is now a new sharing option with Movies Anywhere.

Not exactly the same as before but this should make some of you happy.

    ENJOY !!!
Watch movies online with Movies Anywhere. Stream movies from Disney, Fox, Sony, Universal, and Warner Bros. Connect your digital accounts and import your movies from Apple iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, Xfinity, Google Play/YouTube, Microsoft Movies & TV, FandangoNOW, Verizon Fios TV, and DIRECTV. Download the app. Watch instantly or save offline for later. Available on mobile devices and your TV.

Thanks for sharing! While this is good news it will be a bit of a pain doing one title at a time, but at least it is an option!

The Movies Anywhere Screen Pass program is limited to 3 screen passes per month that you can send out. I don't think there is a limit on how many you can accept?

It's pretty limited. You are basically able to give away 3 rentals of some titles from your library each month (Only certain titles are eligible, all newer releases are excluded for example). It has to be watched using Movies Anywhere app, and like a rental, they have 14 days to start watching the movie and 72 hours to finish it once it has been started.

Also, I've found that a Movies Anywhere account that hasn't added any new movies within a certain amount of time isn't able to share movies. My sister has a Movies Anywhere account and she hasn't purchased any movies in quite a while. When she clicks on the Screen Pass button for a movie, this comes up:

            Not Screen Pass Eligible

To send Screen Passes, you must qualify by purchasing or redeeming a digital movie. Visit Settings > Screen Pass for more information.

Edit, just found this in the Screen Pass documentation:

For qualified users who have been invited to participate in the beta testing, to remain eligible, you need to purchase a Movies Anywhere-eligible movie from a connected participating Digital Retailer or redeem a non-promotional digital code every six months.

So it's still in beta and we could see expansion. So that's a good thing.

It's always possible to add another device to your MA account using the screen code. I don't think you can make purchase with MA Roku so it's another way of sharing. But you have to be conformable with it. And I'm not sure how the MA terms agree with it.
