    Magnolia Pictures 4K UHD

I've noticed some Magnolia titles at Vudu are 4K but not all of them, while FandangoNOW and others (usually iTunes and Microsoft) do carry them in 4K. Hopefully Vudu can poke Magnolia and get them to send the 4K versions of these movies.

    Thanks for looking into this!

It's been a couple of months. Has anyone looked into these? Thanks.

Same reason as always, "contracts with the studios" which I could understand, but you'd think with Vudu and FNow now being owned by the same company, these contract talks would make it easier to get UHD from FNow added to Vudu...

They already have 4K from Magnolia so it's an issue of getting the right resolution not a contract. Vudu can do it if they have any motivation.

They already commented before it was contracts with license. If they agree on a certain quality, they can just demand higher encodes later. Even though FNow and Vudu are now owned by the same company, different contracts exist until they end or are altered. This was their words many times sadly, not just me making it up.

They already have contracts with the studio for 4K and the titles in question. They can't offer something Magnolia won't give them to sell, but they can certainly request it from Magnolia. These titles are not retailer exclusives, there's no obvious reason why they couldn't get them. They are not negotiating separate contracts for each of these films and each resolution. I'm not sure where you're getting that.

It's been posted here before from Vudu members themselves, as well as my own emails back and fourth between customer service regarding the same issue. I just say what info has been shared, that is all.

I haven't found any posts from Vudu employees saying they can't request a higher resolution from a studio when they already carry a title and carry same studio titles of that resolution. (Ignoring anything from first-tier support since they aren't in a position to know.) Vudu can only offer what the studio permits, but that does not mean the content team can't ask the studio for something that they offer to plenty of other retailers already. After all, what's the point of making title or resolution requests if they literally could do nothing? And yet we do, and sometimes the effort is made, and it is appreciated.
