I just bought something but no sales tax was charged. What state are you in? What are your locality's sales tax rules?

So we're just grumping that sales tax exists, not that Vudu is mischarging in some state. Talk to your legislators then.

I agree, I hear people complaining about taxes recently both on here and another site. I've been charged taxes for years now, most recently with FandangoNow.

I'm in Minnesota and get charged tax for Apple, Amazon, Vudu, and Fandango. He may take longer to get to you but the tax man always cometh to get his.

Im in Jersey, been using Vudu for 7 years, not charged a sales tax until today. This is the day George Harrison was warning me about.

I'm not a NJ resident but the tax laws I see say that NJ charges sales tax on "specified digital products" which include "digital audio-visual works" (movies and shows). These regulations can sometimes be interpreted ambiguously and often the revenue/taxation departments need to clarify what is taxed and what isn't. Maybe that's the case here.

Yeah they are over charging sales tax in Florida by almost .50 cents. which isn't bad but that adds up especially since we haven't been being charged at all

Hi All, I recently noticed the added sales tax as well. Didn’t think anything of it; however, I did opt to not make my purchase through Vudu and instead went with iTunes which allowed it to migrate over through MA. But then I went in again a few days later and wanted to see if the sales tax was still being added. So I added a movie that cost $7.99, the sales tax added was 1.09... I thought about it and then removed that movie and added another that costs 6.99 with an added sales tax of 0.95. So I was like wait a minute... I live in Florida which has a state sales tax of 7%... so I did the math and in each case for each of these movies the sales tax percentage came out to 13.7%!!!

I ended up call Vudu customer service and got the runaround from a low level CSR, so I immediately requested a supervisor. Once I was able to speak with the supervisor, I had to explain why and how this was a concern... like how can a business operate and think this is ok?!? The reality is, this is unethical and illegal behavior! There is no telling how long they’ve been doing this to other Vudu customers in other states. I ended up having basically force the guy to create a case and get an email confirmation so that I could have proof that I called in for my complaint. In addition, I checked the better business bureau website and the complaints have already started there as well. This whole situation has class action lawsuit written all over it.

The issue for me is in Florida the sales tax is NOT the 13%. We are being charged double.
