Where can you redeem the new LOTR and Hobbit Trilogy Sets in UHD?

The new sets provide one code that grant both cuts of each films, is there an option to redeem these on Vudu?

Right now they are only redeeming 4K on Movies Anywhere.

When you scan the code it lets you choose to redeem at either Vudu or Movies Anywhere. Are you saying the error I get when I select Vudu will not be resolved? I’d rather keep all my digital purchases in Vudu but I need to start using movies anywhere from now on I guess I can do that.

I'm saying that it will currently redeem in HD if redeemed on Vudu. I prefer to redeem on Vudu as well. It will redeem in HD there, and if you already own it in HD - chances are it will burn your code if you try to redeem. Hopefully Vudu gets this fixed SOON.

Awesome thanks! I’ll hold on to my code for a bit.

Personally I redeem all 4K codes at MoviesAnywhere as there you know what you are getting, with Vudu who knows sometimes (they port right back to Vudu anyways when you link your accounts).

So if I redeem the 4k code at moviesanywhere will it be available on Vudu at 4k or just hd? Also it would be great if Vudu support would reply here to at least let us know if we should wait to redeem. I definitely want the 4k available on vudu since that's the app I use for all my movies. Thanks!

I can confirm that if you redeem at Movies Anywhere and you have it linked to your Vudu account, all 6 films (3 theatrical, 3 extended) will be in your Vudu library in UHD.

the problem with that is that MA doesnt have support from all the studios, so lots of movies aren't even available on MA. I dont want to play this game of redeem this code here, redeem that code there. that's wack.

                      Excellent. Thanks for confirming that!

That's why you always check 4ksheet.com (a huge Google Sheet) before redeeming a 4K/UHD code. (Hint: It already tells folks to redeem LOTR & Hobbit codes at MA, not Vudu.) Besides, it's well-known which studios participate in MA (Disney including Fox, WB, Universal, Sony) and which ones don't (Paramount, Lionsgate, MGM, independents not distributed thru the big four, all TV series regardless of studio). As the vast majority of Hollywood movies come from the four MA studios, MA membership & linking is critical to maintaining a digital movie collection at Vudu or elsewhere. Generally, if it's a new MA title the best place to redeem it is MA; the biggest exception for older titles, as generally noted at the 4K sheet, is Fox (titles released before around Deadpool 2 will only redeem in 4K thru foxredeem.com & iTunes, from which MA will populate it over to Vudu).

BTW, FelipeF or anyone else at Vudu, are you working on fixing this? Surely between your records and WB you can fix the issue internally, confirm which LOTR & Hobbit codes were previously redeemed at Vudu, upgrade them to UHD, and populate them over to MA so all the other retailers are corrected.

I also just confirmed that upgrading LOTR to UHD does *not* add extras at Vudu; the only extras attached to LOTR are on the EE's at MA & iTunes. (The Hobbit EE's have extras at Vudu, even for those of us still on HDX for those.)

This is now fixed! I don't think this will let me post links but there is an all-in-one collection of Theatricals and Extended Editions for LOTR and Hobbit trilogies recently added at Vudu and you can redeem your codes there for 4k of both editions.

Thank you for adding Vudu! And it looks like Special Features were added the the Hobbit Extended editions which is great news. Can they please be added to the LOTR Extended Editions?
