Animated Christmas Classics - Should be UHD (Individual + Bundle) 4K Codes Available

Christmas Classics (Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town)

These should be UHD at VUDU - there are already UHD codes available (single UHD codes and a bundle UHD code)

FelipeF - can you ask someone to look into this? Be nice to redeem those codes for the higher resolution.

In the meantime, those who have these codes should redeem on Movies Anywhere rather than Vudu, at least until Vudu gets around to upgrading them to 4K. Redeeming on MA will give you 4K rights across all connected retailers that will upgrade to 4K either automatically once the retailer adds these in 4K, or disconnecting and reconnecting the account after the retailer upgrades if it does not get upgraded automatically. If you redeem on Vudu while Vudu still has those titles in HD will only give you HD forever across all MA retailers including Vudu.

I recommend the same with volume 3 of Sony’s Columbia Classics 4K set.

HOWEVER... Not everyone likes redeeming in MA. They prefer to redeem directly through a provider. There is more protection this way in case MA decides to do something stupid like take the right to a movie away. At least then you should still have the right to that movie in the provider you redeemed it in. If you redeem it in MA directly then you would be SOL.

Which to my knowledge has never happened. In fact, just the opposite. “Ferngully,” “Coraline,” and “Kubo and the Two Strings” were all Movies Anywhere titles when they were still distributed by Fox and Universal. When the rights reverted to Shout Factory, they lost Movies Anywhere status for new purchases, but if purchased prior to the distribution changeover, they remained in your MA locker and in your MA connected retailer libraries.

Personally, I find it much safer to redeem on MA than a retailer. I have been burned way too many times by redeeming on Vudu and ending up with an HD version because Vudu didn’t have the movie in 4K at the time of redemption. If I had redeemed on MA, I would have still been granted 4K rights and would eventually upgrade on Vudu to 4K once Vudu got their act together. Customer Service at Vudu these days is pretty much nonexistent, while at Movies Anywhere I can actually speak to a human being who speaks my language clearly and will even advocate for me with the studios and retailers.

I agree, I use MA primarily to redeem codes when available. I also like that you can see what resolution it will redeem while being signed out.

They are now available to purchase on Vudu in UHD HDR. I had purchased the HD set on Vudu years ago then purchased UHD codes a few weeks ago and redeemed on MA. I just now had to disconnect and reconnect Vudu from MA for the upgrade to show up on Vudu.
