    Movies Anywhere vs Vudu video quality

    There's Something In The Barn - several spots with quick video breakup - This movie joins a growing list of movies that I own that have errors in them on Vudu but play perfectly fine on Movies Anywhere.

    Granted, the breakups are only a fraction of a second, and there is only a couple of them, but it is still annoying.

    There's Something In The Barn
    Scooby Doo and the Monster of Mexico
    The Spirit of 76
    Battle of the Bulge
    Cats & Dogs
    It Came From Beneath The Sea
    Lover Come Back
    National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2

    All 8 of these movies have quick little errors in them, some more than others, and it is prevalent on Vudu's Roku app, their AppleTV app, and the website. All of them are Movies Anywhere compatible and play perfect on Movie Anywhere.

    Also, the non-Movies Anywhere movie Scared Stiff (Lewis/Martin) has a bad spot in it on Vudu, but plays perfectly fine, error free, in iTunes (I own both the Vudu and the Apple/iTunes version).

    So my question...how come the transfers that Movies Anywhere gets seem to consistently have less errors in them?

    Is there any way for Vudu to start using the same source?

    From what I can tell Movies Anywhere has different digital prints in many cases. There are several titles on VUDU in the wrong aspect ratio (panned and scanned) that are CORRECT on Movies Anywhere. You would think the prints would be universal across all streaming platforms based on resolution (i.e. SD, HDX or 4K).

      Some of the Vudu streams are VERY old and since Movies Anywhere came to be in more recent years they can often have newer master files for catalog titles.

        While this may be true for some titles, "There's Something in the Barn" is a brand new release. I just purchased this over the weekend, but have yet to give it a view. There is no excuse for a new release to be flawed, and if there is an issue, it needs to be fixed.

        I also noticed a brief digital "glitch" (pixilates for a second) in the new UHD transfer of Sleepy Hollow. It only happens once, but shouldn't happen at all.

          I agree. Have you verified the glitches on different devices?

              I have verified all of the glitches I've reported happen on my Apple TV Vudu app, my Roku Vudu app, and from the website.

              When the glitch is on a Movies Anywhere compatible title, Vudu and iTunes will both have the same glitch, while Movies Anywhere plays it perfectly.

              I tried to upload a picture here to show the glitch from the latest one, but either the forum or my phone keeps rejecting it saying file type not supported.

                Exactly.

                I tried to upload an image to show it here but it wouldn't let me, I'll try again when I'm in front of my computer. It is a very quick and brief glitch, but like you said, it shouldn't happen at all. And it doesn't happen on Movies Anywhere.

                I know the TV series The Librarians had so many of these glitches that I actually stopped watching it.

                  Just FYI - but most issues reported on this forum are rarely ever acted upon, since FelipeF seems to be a one-man show and can't possibly handle everything posted here.

                    Agreed, just as there is no excuse for a relatively new title released in the last few years (Christopher Robin from 2018) to be on Vudu in the wrong aspect ratio when every other retailer has it in the correct aspect ratio.

                      I've honestly never had any luck getting these kind of issues taken care of by opening support tickets. Whenever I open a support ticket and supply screenshots and time stamps, I always seem to get put into a loop of the general checklist questions and they don't seem to listen to me when I explain that it has nothing to do with my internet service or the individual device I'm using.

                      I know Felipe has managed to get done more than anyone ever has using the support email.

                        There have been encode updates. The original 9 1/2 Weeks was once a horrid full screen encode. About 2 years ago they updated it. This a and many others have been updated.

                          Can anyone tell me why when I try to redeem my digital copy of marvel Gaurdians of the galaxy vol 3 it says there is a problem. I've tried multiple times but won't go. I just joined vudu and have 5 movies so far this would be 6 if I could figure it out.
