Bait and switch prices on web site

Both Tron and Toy Story are listed on the $5 DEALS page, but I cannot purchase them at that price. Screenshots linked to imgur because image upload on the forum is broken.

Some titles’ prices not matching the sale category price has happened multiple times in the past and most likely an error in whatever technique they use to set those sale prices. If they are setting the prices by hand, it doesn’t surprise me that there are mistakes given how many titles go on sale each week. I ran into this once with a title I wanted, posted a request for it to be corrected, they didn’t get to it by the time the sale ended, so put it on my wish list and waited for the next time it went on sale.

They did recently have The Three Amigos in a sale, even though it isn't available for purchase. It is available for rental, though that price wasn't reduced during the sale as it wasn't a rental deal.

Often titles are included in mix and matches that aren't eligible, especially since Vudu got rid of the option to purchase in a lower quality (used to have separate buttons for each quality). But they are still listed as available in the deal anyways. Vudu could fix that by allowing the lower quality purchase like they used to but they are all about changing the look of the UI even at the expense of features. It definitely isn't about improving functionality, if anything losing features isn't even the worst part of it, that would be the often-added instability.

As for the lists for sales though, if memory serves from the days when Walmart owned Vudu instead of Comcast's Fandango decided to buy another service it could run into the ground like M-Go (which they rebranded as FandangoNow and did nothing to it but strip functionality away and reduce the quality of customer service, must like they are doing to Vudu now), the list for sales were provided by the studio the sales were negotiated with (why many titles are on sale on multiple platforms at the same time). Of course that could have changed over the years, as is Vudu doesn't seem to negotiate as many sales these days given that you will often see titles on sale on every other possible platform (amazon, itunes, google, even comcast, and previously MS) all at the same time with Vudu being the only service without the sale, that didn't use to happen. Unless it was a title owned by one of the platforms vudu often matched sales and even had many exclusive sales, but that was before the beginning of the end. Time will tell though.
