Re: When is VUDU going to start Streaming HDR content
I fail to understand why a Vudu rep can't just give us a time frame for when HDR UHD titles will be available and if we're going to have to buy the UHD titles again or if they will be incorporated into the current listings with Dolby Vision. I'm looking to buy another 4K TV and I want to know if I need to get one that supports Dolby Vision or if I can buy a Sony with HDR so that I can finally watch all the Sony UHD titles too. If Vudu starts offering HDR titles soon then a Sony becomes a better decision. If not, I'll forgo getting a Sony and buy an LG to fully enjoy the other UHD movies with Dolby Vision. Either way I'll need the latest Roku.

If Vudu can't just offer a title as "UHD" that includes all available video/audio formats, it's going to get really confusing for the consumer, as well as sticky when you attempt to play the same movie on a different TV in the house that doesn't have the same capabilities...
Typically, Vudu scales downward appropriately; If you buy the UHD version of a movie and attempt to watch it on a 1080P TV, you'll automatically get the next-best version (HDX) streamed to you. I could see this working the same way once there is a HDR10 option. If you buy the UHD Dolby Vision version, you get all of the lower versions: UHD HDR10, HDX, HD, SD, etc.

What content is available in HDR?
To view the complete selection of 4K content that is currently available to download, please see the "VIDITY 4K Ultra HD" list on your Samsung-compatible TV. Look for the symbol at the bottom of the movie poster."
They may well stream in HDR10 but all I see on their website seems to say otherwise. If they are they need to be clear about it.

Re: When is VUDU going to start Streaming HDR content
Originally posted by Dadbart View PostThis is incorrect. Universal gives UHD UV copies when you register the digital copy of a UHD disc (which is why I buy their titles more than anyone else). FandangoNow provides that UV UHD copy in your UV Library on the Roku. FandangoNow streams all of them with HDR 10. No Samsung or Vidity required. The Vidity option only applies to "UHD with HDR" titles you buy on their web site or through the Samsung set. You can buy UHD titles directly from FandangoNow without HDR through a device like Roku Ultra. Sony offers a UHD streaming copy with their UHD discs, but only on select Sony TVs with their app. No other studio is offering this UV value at all.

It is not lossless Atmos but streaming does not offer lossless audio anyway.
