Does anyone miss not having DVD extras?

And/or is Vudu considering including them in the future? Seems desireable to me.

(apologise if this has been covered already, new here).

Have you noticed that "more" button on your remote? I'm hoping that is what it will be used for in the future (not there yet).

I gave them up when I ripped my DVD collection (~750) to my Terastations. For me, the ability to do on-demand viewing and not having to fumble with locating disks, etc., is way more important than the extras. Come to think of it, I have never really seen the big deal about extras and never really used them. I'm probably on the extreme side that way.

I'm the same way. The geek part of me bought the extended uber editions of the LOTR trilogy and I never watched any of the bonuses or extras included. I'd rather just have the movies.

I love the extra cartoons on some dvds (Incredibles, Madagascar, Open Season, etc).

Ya just gotta love the penquins taking care of their own . . .

My wife bought those too. I actually threw out all but the movie disks. She didn't even notice.

I watch them when there's time. Some have been a big yawn but others were really worthwhile.

The Pixar shorts are definitely worthwhile and I can remember a few other extras that I liked, but it's not a deal-breaker for me. At least not for rentals. However, I have a hard time justifying a purchase that gets me less than what's on the physical DVD unless there's an associated reduction in price.

I am sure if you are a film school student then the directors commentaries are great. I have watched a few and sometimes you get some great insight other times its just boring. So in my mind its hit or miss. Sometimes I think the studios just stuff as much on the disk to fill up space.

Now the deleted scenes and out-takes...my kids love them. The ones for Shrek were good and so were most of the pixar stuff.

I can't wait to see what comes in the DVD briefcase for Blade Runner.

I do remember when I was a LaserDisc collector we used to have "Criterion Collection." These were really exceptional disc's with quality added material. They now do DVDs...here is their site:

I think it's hilarious when Shrek or Donkey mess up their lines . . . I'm so glad that they happened to be rolling the cameras then!

Are they the same as the outtakes that they usually show for Pixar movies after the credits start rolling?

Actually, the LOTR movies are the ONLY ones that I have ever watched some of the extra content on. There is some REALLY, REALLY good stuff in some of the extra content. There's some story boarding and all that goes more into the detail of the great battle during the Last Alliance when the ring was taken from Sauron by Isuldir. The extras to LOTR are worth it.

I've never watched them on any of my other DVDs though...

I'm hoping the "more" button gives us chaptering...

What do people use chaptering for? Isn't the really, really fast foward capability of the Vudu scroll wheel a better alternative?

Likely in some ways, yes. But, if you are starting a movie and want to find a certain scene, chapters come in handy if you don't know the exact point in the movie. But then again, I've never used chapters, so I don't know what I am talking about
