Re: Cinemanow dead??
Yes, I also had a significant number of D2D purchases on CinemaNow. They are still in my UV collection and can be sorted by store/CinemaNow. I had three 99-cent movies that are lost since they weren't UV. What was interesting about CinemaNow is that several movies had different versions. My Bloody Valentine was the anaglyph 3D version instead of normal 2D version. Gaslight was the 1940 version instead of the 1944 version I had purchased from D2D. Barbarella might have been the original version with white end titles;Vudu has the re-release version with color end titles and different music credits.

Re: Cinemanow dead??
I used cinemanow from time to time for D2D when the Vudu D2D program didn't recognize a disk, but Cinemanow did. I just checked a few of the movies I got via Cinemanow D2D and they are all still playable on Vudu and MA, so that's a good sign.

Yes, it is amazing to me that the other retailers can't provide a decent app. It seems so basic to provide sorting functions!Originally posted by Navigator View PostI'm not too worried about Vudu going anywhere just because the other UV connected retailers have been dying off. The problems with those other ones had nothing to do with UV. They just sucked at doing the whole digital store thing, period.
Vudu is promoted heavily within Wal-Mart, they have the best digital storefront, they have apps on almost every device you can think of, and frankly, their app beats everything else for watching stuff. While not 100% perfect, they've gotten a lot of stuff right that those other guys completely screwed up.
Even comparing them to the other stores that connect to MA, they win out. I looked at my library on Amazon using their Roku app after connecting Vudu to it through MA, and Amazon lists your entire library in one single row with newest purchases at the front with no way to sort. It's complete garbage compared to the Vudu app. I also looked at Google Play on the Roku, and their app sucks too. They at least let you scroll down through rows of five, like Vudu, but there's no way to sort or filter movies, like Amazon.
I think Vudu will do just fine.

CN is toast. At least VUDU is still standing... Hopefully, fingers crossed, not going anywhere anytime soon??
Last bastion against a stranglehold of iTunes and AmazonVideo (and debatable Google Play, assuming anyone actually uses that, given it doesn't support UV either, and I suspect iTunes and then Amazon are more popular)?

Re: Cinemanow dead??
Dead as a doornail.
On assumes any UV titles would be in your UV locker over on myuv.com, and would port over to other UV services (AKA, VUDU).
But, it seems like CinemaNow is now kaput. It redirects to CinemaNowFree which I guess is a clone of some UK site that streams free movies and TV, or something... Apparently the site/assets got passed around to a few different companies/groups before ending up there...
https://hd-report.com/2017/08/08/cin...rm-is-no-more/
Flixster is going down, CinemaNow is gone, the Target movie site is toast (has been for a while). Seems like it's just down to VUDU now? Okay, maybe there's M.Go or FandangoNow or whatever it's called these days? And the Studio sites themselves. Dunno... In competition with iTunes, Amazon Video, Google Play, (all "walled gardens" that haven't played nicey nice with license sharing or UV rights, like everyone was supposed to [Disney/MGM still don't, as don't a few others]) and VUDU's more-or-less the last of the big UV partners.
Now it looks like Disney is spearheading a push for "Movies Anywhere" to supplant UV (Ugh! really?? Why couldn't they have just supported UV from the outset??), and somehow make studios/"walled gardens" do what some studios, et al, more-or-less refused to do the first time around (get behind a single digital license clearinghouse standard [UV])? However well or shoddily they implement it?
Though the "Movies Anywhere" library is currently a lot smaller than UV, doesn't seem to include ANY TV, as yet, no idea if entire UV libraries will eventually sync up with them or port over all licenses, if it will ever support disc-to-digital, if it will ever support "library sharing [friends/family]" like UV does, etc.
Ugh...

I had over a hundred Disney titles on here as well as a bunch of non-uv or pre uv titles on here. But can?t find anyway to get intouch with them other than the email us support link on the skeleton of their old site. Which I emailed them over a week ago with to no reply. I tried reaching out to Disney Movies Anywhere hoping they could help with the Disney titles as I do have all my reciepts, but they were no help. Makes me hesitant to keep investing in digital, that companies keep disappearing and we seem to have no options to protect our investments.

Even though it's a lousy site IMO that I hardly ever use, it's still important to have multiple UV providers to keep the system alive!
I own two movies on CinemaNow, or did. I was able to view it through an app on my Samsung TV.
The other night I turned on the app selector and the CinemaNow app self destructed and was gone.
That was my first clue that something was amiss. Glad I didnt buy a lot of stuff from them, then again that's
Probably why they no longer exist.

Re: Cinemanow dead??
This definitely seems promising... but all titles, UV or not, need to be grandfathered in for sure. I hope this will be one big step towards a unified digital locker (everything in one place), but I'm a little worried that it might just end up being a further splitting and dividing of our collections, making it all more of a mess... I really hope the studios and retailers and UV finally get on the same page, for the greater good for all! Fingers crossed.

Yes, that is the link from a year ago I was referencing. That doesn't have anything to do with them breaking ties with UV though.Originally posted by tsken02 View PostTry this link:

The cinemanow page now redirects through a few different sites and ends at an ad for car rentals. This bodes well!!
This is really funny considering that the deal with Target allows people to transfer their TargetTicket accounts to cinemanow up until March 7, 2020.
One would think that cinemanow would be contractually obligated to keep their service running at least until then...

Re: Cinemanow dead??
It could be a little of both. This will be a new locker, not storefront so everything would still be right here in Vudu if purchased here or if they support those lockers. Depeneding on rights and studio involvement you could possibly see some UV movies transfer and others not and some non UV go in and others not.Originally posted by Dive86 View PostQuestion would be all my uv Vudu movie would transfer but some of my non uv Vudu purchases will not right ?
