However it happened, we now own UHD versions of movies in Movies Anywhere. That's the license we have, as is reflected in other services linked to Movies Anywhere. Vudu has an agreement with Movies Anywhere to be a Movies Anywhere license playback services. Just because they registered that we own the Ultraviolet HD version of a movie doesn't mean we can't also own the UHD version at Movies Anywhere, and having our Vudu account reflect access to the UHD copies isn't an upgrade to our Vudu account, it is just access to what we are supposed to have access to per their arrangement with Movies Anywhere.
That's true, I think most of us just use the word upgrade to reflect the proper change in quality when we do acquire a higher resolution through one of the participating providers. But yes, if we have an UHD license, we should have UHD everywhere. When I acquire an UHD license at Vudu, it upgrades fine elsewhere. But not the same for other services to Vudu. Vudu please fix this issue, if you are unsure of what's happening, it's okay to ask your customers for further explanation of issue.

The lack of response is a bit concerning. I understand that sometimes a response isn't possible due to contractual reasons with the studio, but this wouldn't be one of those issues... All we're wondering is why our UHD licenses from Movies Anywhere aren't showing on Vudu if we owned a lower resolution, and an idea or timeline of when a fix will be released.

We are closing in on two months with no resolution... this must be one incredibly tough programming nut to crack!

Well, maybe not... I naively initially assumed the import code could be fixed up in a couple of hours tops to just check for the highest resolution owned for each title, or for MA to simply only report the highest resolution owned to connected providers.

I guess none of us knows how the underlying technology works, nor which party is responsible or provides which part, or which party if any is actually working on this issue.

I still have trouble understanding how it could take months to fix though, so I can only come to the conclusion that the responsible party may not have yet been identified and it is possible work has not actually begun on the code to fix the issue.

Not sure why this is only affecting vudu though.

I can say this for sure: thank goodness no one connected to my UV library redeemed the HD version of Despicable Me 3 before I could get the UHD version in my MA account. Phew.

Same issue here, with the following titles that are UHD/4K in other MA services (some iTunes, some Google) but not reflected on Vudu:
          • Fast & Furious 6
          • Fast & Furious 6 (Extended Edition)
          • Snow White and the Huntsman: Extended Edition
          • The Bourne Identity
          • The Bourne Supremacy
          • The Bourne Ultimatum
          • The Bourne Legacy
          • Mad Max Fury Road (only appears in Google from MA)

          Thanks!
          Add to this list...
          • Lego Movie
          • Oblivion
          • Furious 7 (Extended Edition)

It's not an issue of specific titles not porting, it's an issue of VUDU HDX/UV ownership affecting UHD porting in. Any title would be affected if you already own it in HDX from direct purchase or redemption at VUDU, or UV ownership. When you didn't redeem at Vudu, and you don't have UV ownership, titles port in just fine. Today, my 4K Movies Anywhere redemption of The Dark Tower updated to UHD in VUDU now that they have the proper resolution, but only because I didn't redeem in Vudu, and I didn't have UV rights.

i redeemed my despicable me 1,2,3 from my 4k disc boxset in MA but only despicable me 3 was uhd in vudu. Vudu still says I own the hdx versions of despicable me 1 and 2 only, I already own despicable 1 an 2 hdx an, so am guessing it?s a bug if you own any previous digital versions. sorry if this was reported already.

It has been months. Can we at least get a statement about whether this is a bug or a policy? I understand it might take time to fix a bug, if it is a bug, but it doesn't take any time to answer that question.

If it's a policy, I'm not going to buy anything that's only available in HD right now at Vudu anymore. And since MA says it is a Vudu policy, that's exactly what I've been doing, not buying movies from Vudu that I otherwise would. Leaving us all in the dark is doing nothing but costing Vudu money.

In my experience, the only 4K UHD movies that currently and consistently redeem in UHD are from Warner Bro's. I wish the studio would clearly advertise on the discs what digital version comes with the disc. If they did, that would address most of the issues people have. Another problem is what if the movie is not available in UHD in VUDU and you have a UHD code?

This is not the issue being discussed in this thread. It's a very specific problem, although one that affects every Vudu user, whether they know it yet or not.

My point is that when I buy a 4K UHD Blu-ray the case specifies what I am getting in it. Usually a 4K Blu-ray and a standard Blu-Ray. However it doesn't specify the class of code besides usually saying "Digital Copy." If it did specify "UHD Digital Copy" then we could use that as proof to make a case to MA, VUDU or whomever that we are entitled to UHD. Now it's up to the discretion of the studio and retailer.

That isn't the issue at all.

We all have the UHD rights already in Movies Anywhere, whether from an outright purchase or from a code redemption.

Owning the UHD version is not the issue.

The problem is those owned UHD rights are not importing in to vudu if, and only if, a lower quality version is owned in vudu already.

If one does NOT own the movie at all, the UHD version imports into vudu without issue.

This also affects HD titles if one already owns the SD version (which is actually an issue for a handful of my movies as well).

Dear vudu, we have been waiting since October 15th, any updates or timeline for a fix yet? Thank you!

EDIT: Hey guys, check your movies...I think they have fixed this. Some of my titles show as UHD now (Bourne movies, Lego) but not all of them...yet.

Thanks to whoever is working on this!

Do we have a list going of some that got fixed? Most of my UHD versions are through.
