Most beta users (including yourself) are in the same situation right now. Things are working they way they are supposed to at this point. It will change to instant play in the future. You might want to open a thread on the Beta forum if you want to discuss further details.

Re: Please buy the Bourne Ultimatum HD

That's going to be my first purchase as soon as my box arrives next week. I'll buy every HD movie that comes out initially if that will help us get more HD releases faster. Wishful thinking though maybe?

I hope they can implement a download status indicator before the arrival of HD rentals, because starting a movie appears to be the only current way of knowing how much of the movie is on the box. I'd like to know that the entire movie is downloaded before I start the clock on the rental window. Right now my network speed varies alot so I don't know if or when I'll ever be able to instantly watch a HD movie.

This is a good feature indeed. It would also help for portability: if you plan on taking your box somewhere else (with no network connection) you'd want to know when the current downloads are completed so you know you can disconnect it.

Do you know why your network speed varies so much? Do you think it's related to your own home environment or somewhere past your ISP? any other ideas?

When I bought and downloaded Bourne Ultimatum it gave me a countdown..."4 hours remaining", "1 hour remaining" and "15 minutes remaining"

Ahh - was that countdown for when I could start playing the movie - not for when it had finished downloading?

                        Correct.

Then once you start watching, you'll see the progress bar with a light blue and a dark blue area. The light blue is the "safe" area where you are effectively guaranteed no problems if you are in it. If you are in the dark blue are, an uninterrupted viewing experience may or may not happen.

I second the idea of download status indications.. I dont know if it could be made as an option to turn on and off under advanced network settings... I would actually like to see the transfer rates also..

i experienced some banding in low light on a 1080p bravia...

but for the most part it was a truly enjoyable hd experience...
