      Re: Wake up everyone!

So I'm not sure exactly where to post this, but as a new VUDU subscriber I've noticed a couple of strange things about searching movies on the website from my computer, and I thought I'd ask whether it's the site or whether I'm just missing something.

First, it does not seem possible to search within a genre? For example, if I want to search for certain titles in the HDX category only, how do I do that? I'm a subscriber for HDX, period, and in fact that's what VUDU pushes about itself. Does it really have a website in which a subscriber can't search within that genre, but can only search the whole database? Or is the idea that you search the whole database, come up with the flick you want, then click on the flick to find out whether it's offfered in 1080p?

Second, once I am in a genre, and I select a certain title, read about it and then hit my back button, I'm taken not only not to the previous page, but not even back to the first page of the genre. Instead, I'm taken all the way back to the home page, and to get back to where I was, I need to select the original genre again, and click forward to where I was. This gets tiresome, especially when I'm on page 20-something or higher of a 66 page menu...

Third, it seems a little odd that I can select movies to put on my wish list on my computer, but I can't see the wish list to remind myself what's on it until I go to my TVs themselves, turn them on and navigate to Vudu. Why is this?

Is the same true for reviews? I can only read them from my TV?

        Re: Wake up everyone!

        Bruce,

Thank you for the feedback. You are correct, there is not a way currently on the website to search a specific genre for HDX titles. There is the ability to search each separately.

As for the back button taking you to the beginning of the search. I would suggest opening a new window (click the link using your scroll wheel in most cases).

Again, this is great feedback. I will pass this along

You are welcome, but I want to make sure you understand what I am trying to say here. First, while it is true that it is not possible to search a given genre for HDX movies, as you point out, it also appears to be true that it is not possible to search the HDX category for a given title offered in HDX. For example, if I try to search in the HDX category for a movie that I know is not offered in 1080p (say, for example, Salt), I should not get Salt as a result. But I do. And when I click on Salt, sure enough, it shows that it is available only in SD.

Second, clicking the back button does not take me back to "the beginning of the search". It takes me out of the search entirely, and back to the home page. Your suggested work around--opening a new window--is awkward at best, becaue it does not allow me to go back to the previous page, but only to the home page, so if I want to go back to page 19 from 20, for example, I have to open a new window, select Browse Movies again, then HDX again, then page forward 18 more times to page 19 in the new window. How about if the back button actually works likes it is supposed to work, and in fact how it works on other parts of Vudu's own website (like this forum, for one example)? In other words, the back button should show the previous page when browsing movies as well.

            Re: Wake up everyone!

When i sort by "HDX" salt is not given for me. But i'll check it on a few different browsers.

As for the back feature, i understand what you're saying. The applet that allows you to browse movies should have a back feature built in so you don't have to start over. The web page address never changes, which is why it would return to the home screen when you hit back.

Once you click to open movie information, you can click close to the top right of the movie poster. At that point you should be returned to the place you left off.

              Re: Wake up everyone!

I'm using the latest version of Explorer as a browser. If I click on HDX on the lefthand side of the screen, and then type "Salt" into the search title box, I get Salt, which is not in HDX. It appears that the search title box is not restricting the search to the category selected.

I like the close button hint, though. That helps. It's not as good as a back button that goes back to the previous page as with other parts of the site, but it helps.

                  Danielle,

Maybe you can answer this issue for me....I noticed some changes in the software of my BX100 box......1-the HDD bug must have been fixed, I show even a little MORE space than I did before, and my drive was pretty loaded.....2- in the Data Rate section, it shows a limit of 15Mbps, when before there was no limit.....I am on a 25Mbps FIOS connection.....Does this affect just downloads or streaming and downloads? I also noticed after the adjustment, HDX movies show two bars when it was three all the time before.....playback wasn't affected, however........I'm just waiting to see what kind of splash VUDU will make at CES.

I've bought one movie on VUDU and that will be my last. I want to own an actual copy ever since the psn got hacked. I can't watch a movie that I payed for. Seems like I'm getting the short end of the stick on this one.

                      Hi Ping,

I do apologize for the inconvenience. However, you should still be able to access VUDU on your PS3. If you have any questions about this please let me know.

This is a good piece of info......The fact that the PSN network was compromised should make other "cloud based" services take pause....I am sure VUDU has taken the necessary steps to protect their infrastructure...This is another reason I have advocated local storage for one's purchased movies.....I think with Ultraviolet(which I saw VUDU was a member of the consortium), will allow much more flexibility in ownership of digital movie downloads.....

Digital distribution will never take off with consumers unless not only security for the studios is addressed, but security for customers' purchased movies.....
