Still not happy about lack of external storage

I would love to pick up a few more boxes as christmas presents for family, as that sounds like a pretty sweet deal, but until they resolve the external storage issue, thats a deal breaker for me.

Maybe the people you would buy the boxes for would actually be happy primarily renting, as many others are. If it's a gift, why would they be anything other than ecstatic getting a free box and $200 worth of free movies, rental or otherwise. Even you admit there is a lot to like with Vudu.

Sure there is alot to like about vudu, but than I never said otherwise. You know redwein if vudu had intended the box to be primarily for renting, and was only concerned with making those who rented happy, they would of never allowed people to purchase movies, they would of never put such a big HDD in the box, and lastly they would of never put USB ports on the box and claim it was for future expansion of storage.

While I think it is great your happy primarily renting, why should vudu pick that is the standard by which ALL is judged as to the satisfaction of it's customers. There are plenty like me who are NOT happy primarely renting and feel vudu is not doing enough to ensure our own satisfaction with this product, quick enough.

There are many who picked up this box so they to would be happy primarily purchasing, and as of yet, are probably somewhat dissatisfied that they can not share in the same comfort and joy that you get out of your box; as they are unable to use the box for the intended purposes they originally sought; when they picked up the box.

Can I rent movies? Sure, but that is not why I originally wanted a vudu box, and that is why I still have probably 20-30 movies in my wish list that I would love to add to "My Movies", but can't because my HDD is maxed out. And no I can't archive them and I already got rid of most the movies that were lower on my list that already got deleted.

Regardless, I do believe that the lack of external storage, which vudu itself claimed was "Coming in 6 months..." some 10 months ago, IS a major flaw in the product, IMO, even if you find no need or use for it. So therefore if vudu wants me to buy more boxes, they know how to get it.

Don't get me wrong, I love my vudu box and would recommend it to anyone who is primarily interested in renting to pick one up, but don't expect me to spend a $1 to buy another box, when vudu hasn't even assured my own satisfaction with the one I currently own. All I have left, as I don't have pull with vudu or a say in how they run things is to speak with my wallet, and that is what I have choosen to do.

I was only suggesting it because the boxes you were going to buy were gifts. If the recipients would be happy with them and it would help Vudu succeed and presumably solve your issue down the road sometime, I don't see why it would be a mistake. I have certainly bought people gifts that I knew (or thought) they would like even if I didn't. It seems like your real motivation in posting your desire and refusal to buy them as gifts is something other than spreading holday cheer.

However, I doubt you or anyone else in there right mind would buy someone a gift of something they own, and were dissatisfied with in some way, and then turn around and decided... well that would make a great gift. In fact most people would think twice of purchasing a gift they own and found fault with, after all who would want to purchase something, intentionally knowing, that the person may find fault with as well.

Sure I have purchased gifts from stores, that I didn't own or didn't want or know much about. However, I don't know a single person who would pay good money for something they KNEW was faulty or deficient in some way in hopes that the person they bought it for might not notice it to or feel the same way.

Regardless, keep your psychoanalyzing babel about my motives to yourself. I don't appreciate your insinuating some ulterior motive. I think I know my family better then you do, and I'm sure as hell you don't. My real motivation is nothing more than insuring that my family members receive a quality product that lives up to the expectations that VUDU has created as being a device that one can NOT ONLY rent movies from, but one that supports one of its KEY intended purpose of purchasing and storing movies, which IMO is sorely lacking.

I certainly would if I truly thought they would like it. I tailor my gifts towards what I think the person I am giving it to would like. For example, I gave my son an iMac for his birthday even though I don't care for them and wouldn't ever own one. Why? Because it is much better suited to what he does with his computer than what I do with mine. He is very happy with it and I'm glad he is enjoying it. I honestly don't see why my dislike of the iMac should have had anything to do with my decision to get him one.

I am sorry if I offended you. I certainly didn't mean to.

No problem, and as this thread has seriously drifted off-topic, I'll move this discussion to PM.
