It would be nice if this spurred the other studios into being more vudu-friendly

"Surround sound" sounds bland. I think it'd have been better to say "with 5.1 sound" or something along those lines.

In 2007 when I read surround sound, I think of dolby prologic.
It sounds like I'm reading it wrong though.

Agreed. Especialy when the logo on the front of the unit advertises Dolby Digital Plus.

1st off I think there needs to be better moderators on here - this was one of the reasons I wrote this topic - the lack of them "getting it" just doesn't help your product! I kept reading responses of "whine, whine, whine... If you don't like it send it back", instead of "thank you for your feedback, we always appreciate what you have to say to try our best to make the product better"!

2nd, if users can't discuss real world expieriences about the product, then why have a forum!

3rd, thank you guys who, well, sort of stood up for me and for speaking out on what you "thought" also.

Like others, since there is no subscription costs, I will just have to turn the box on once and a while and hope that even 1 of the 10 popular movies I'd like to watch is in their database, and I DON'T have to run out to Blockbuster like I still have to now, even though the #1 sales pitch to buy the product was...

...but the creators, founders, investors and users are ALL not looking to use VUDU like listed above!

Oh, and I ask this of ALL users of the product to do this now before responding to this thread...

Pick 10 (Pretty POPULAR) movies you'd like to watch right now, and do a search in the database to see how many are avail to watch?

Then go to Blockbuster or Netflix, and see how many of those same 10 are avail to rent?

So I ask again, but reworded this time... (taken directly from VUDU's HomePage) "It's the other stuff we could do without ? driving to the video store, waiting by the mailbox, finding out the title we were hoping for isn't available".

I had hoped to help lighten the mood a little there. I'm glad you were able to get a laugh out of that.

Please note that we "less than desireable moderators" have not "locked" this thread, banned anybody for their comments, or declared any topic as not allowed. You would be hard pressed to find a more open minded group of moderators. All of the moderators are "volunteers", as Vudu currently does not have the resources to hire the professional moderators you are coveting.

I'm not sure what you had hoped to get out of this thread, but I'll offer you some validation. Everybody - Vudu customers, testers, employees, management, wants to see more titles and same first day releases. Everybody (see previos list) wants to get more favorable terms for rentals and purchasing. Nobody has said the things you want are unreasonable. The problem seems to come about when you come face to face with the reality that what everybody wants isn't going to happen overnight. It's going to take time. Nobody (employees or moderators) has said that the stated desires to improve Vudu are not worthwhile suggestions. When the folks in the know tell you why it currently isn't so, they are not telling you that you shouldn't wish for it, they're just trying to help you understand why you aren't going to get it today - not that you will never get it. I hope you can take that knowledge as comforting while we patiently await these things.

P.S. Thank you for your feedback.

I can think of about 5 people in here who probably agree with you and I think I know who we are - we're also the only 5 or so that voted the lowest in the poll. Either most users are happy with the collection - based on that poll,or are much more patient than us, are lurkers, or already returned their boxes, because we seem to be completely out numbered in here. Hey - you have 2 Bourne movies coming for free !

It's OK to be in a minority, we'll still let you have your say. That's one of the benefits of our poor moderation skills, we don't know when to kick somebody out of here.

So far we have rented 10 to 20 movies from Vudu. We would not have rented any of these movies at Blockbuster or Netflix because, quite honestly, we find those solutions too crappy to even deal with. I don't ever want to go in my car to rent a movie. I don't ever want to deal with disks coming in the mail, etc. While I understand what you would like to do, please understand that there are others that look at things differently and find this box to be exactly what we are looking for (and yes we expect the selection to improve over time).

Oh, and I am not a moderator, or in any way affiliated with Vudu. I just love the product. Since you seem to want real users to share their opinions, I am hoping you want mine as well.

I totally agree with this assessment and I noticed that you seemed to get this some time ago. Your discussions have been entirely reasonable, especially once you saw that. I also think you have gottent useful information out of this forum, which is one of its primary purposes. It seems more like the OP wants to make people unhappy, because he is. I don't see any real genuine desire to help improve the product through providing feedback, or get any useful information.

I was extremely frustrated but I've seen alot of progress in the last month and I look forward to seeing how Vudu evolves. It seems that the snowball keeps getting bigger each week ... Thanks, the forum has been informative and fun ...

That shows the benefit of patience. I have found that patient people are generally happier with life than impatient ones. Of course it's very easy to see why that is the case.
