    Re: VUDU/Walmart Disc to Digital?

WalMart does not need special equipment. They use their own internal internet login and password to have "In store privilages" to load and verify movies. Most stores have a book that has the login and password to gain access. They then manually load your titles and once you've paid they will push thru the order and your titles will be loaded. I actually am a customer who had to train three Wal-Mart employees on how to do it. (Actually had me get behind the counter and go step by step with them as they weren't trained on how to do it). Even today they still use my email as training purposes as I am the only customer who uses the service in my area.

As for HD-DVD's its hit or miss, so I just pull the sleeve from the HD-DVD case and place in a Bluray case (perfect fit btw) and put in the HD-DVD disc. Never once had an issue of confusion converting my HD-DVD's that way.

Would you be willing to put together a step by step guide that the forum members could print out and take with them to be able to train other employees? I have had no luck with 3 locations and would love to be able to walk them through the process. If it is possible I am sure you would have the gratitude of many VUDU users!

PM sent as I'm not sure Vudu wants everyone to know how to do it.

I was about to say, I don't think that's such a great idea. Everything the employee needs to know should already be readily available in a binder right at the counter, or can be looked up on the computer.

They searched for 20 minutes to find the binder at my WM. I could use a cheat sheet.

Thank you for explaining partially how it works. I went to one walmart yesterday before I knew of the print off sheet. They looked at me like I was crazy and said they've never heard of it and don't do it. I don't like that one anyways. The one closer to my house I brought the print out sheet with the blu-rays and she immediately told me to wait for a moment. She tried to look it up and she asked someone else and saw them looking at the blu-rays with uv copies. About 30-45 minutes later she explains that she's never done it before and had to ask around. She was told she needs exactly what you said the internal log in and password. She told me she was going to call someone to find out and ask around more and asked me to come back tomorrow and by then she should have it all sorted out.

She was very polite and let me know what she was doing each step of the way. If it's in a binder is the binder actually stored in the store in the photo department or is that something only the manager has? Just wondering in case she doesn't find out anything by tomorrow.

On a side note it would probably be helpful if at the photo department there was some kind of mention of Vudu Disc to Digital or brochures. But I'm hoping if she finds it and gets it all set up future visits will be a breeze through.

They used to have signs and brochures in all the photo departments. If I got someone who had no idea what I was talking about I would hand them one of their brochures or point to the sign above their head. They'd usually end up calling someone who knew what to do.

Honestly, A step-by-step guide isn't really needed because it's not the problem. The 'how to' of it all is easy and self explanatory. If the associate can read and follow the prompts, they can do it. I'm not a Walmart employee, I never have been and yet I know how to do it step by step just from having watched. I've coached many an employee through the process.

No, the biggest issue is that if you find an associate who doesn't know the process, it's almost a guarantee that they won't know their log on and password either. And without that, you're sunk. I've seen associates not know the log on and password so they call a manager, and the manager doesn't know either.

The process is self explanatory, but if you can't even log in you're not going to ever get anywhere.

                      Re: VUDU/Walmart Disc to Digital?

I just got to know the one guy at a Walmart near me and have a pretty good idea of when he's there now, because otherwise they usually have no idea what I'm talking about. But this guy knows me so well now, I don't even have to give him my info anymore. I just hand him the discs and in a few minutes they're ready and I pay for them without any hassle. It's worth waiting to go when I know he'll be there. Once it took an hour at a different Walmart, the guy told me he had to check each disc, with like a jeweler's loop, I asked him why and he said he had to make sure they were real.

                        Re: VUDU/Walmart Disc to Digital?

I'd love to print out a step by step guide to all this but as I mentioned I don't think Vudu or Wal Mart would think to highly on this. I will say that number one the employee does need to find the white binder book in the photo or cell phone section that has the stores personal log in and password. Without it the employee can't do anything. After the employee enters your titles in the system the employee needs to print out a barcode receipt that they can scan into their cash register (very important) as this barcode once scanned or 10 digit number manually entered into the cash register is what is needed to finalize your order and push thru your titles to Vudu. Upon payment the transaction is complete and your titles will go thru.

Now a couple tips. Verify the price of each conversion so that the price that your paying matches up with the total number of discs. I say this as the employee on more than one occasion has screwed up the entering of the ten digit code and manually entered the total but when I got home the movies weren't in my collection as the employee screwed up entering the numbers. I find the employees have to enter the 10 digit code more than use the scan bar option as the printer they use screws things up big time so if you have to have the employee verify the 10 digit code twice in the cash register to ensure your movies go thru. I actually had to return to Wal Mart twice in one day because the employee had no clue what she was doing. I wound up with the manager behind the counter entering the information to make sure it was done properly.
Another helpful tip is at the front door please tell the greeter that you are bringing in movies for disc to digital (they will have no idea what your talking about btw) but this ensures that security won't tackle you if the alarm goes off because you forgot to remove a anti theft sticker from a case you brought in (happens all the time so I just tell the greeter I'm bringing in "X" amount of Blurays or DVD's and show them before heading in and again before I leave thru the theft detectors.

Another tip is some Blurays will come up as 5.00 to convert and not the standard 2.00 this is also not Wal-Marts fault but Vudu's as the are a handful of titles that for some reason have the SD and the HD version as both being 5.00 Wal Mart cannot do anything about this as it is this way in the system. A good way to check beforehand is go to your disc to digital app and enter the title (Smoking Aces for example) when you click the Bluray on the app it asks you to choose Standard Definition or High Definition version instead of just High Definition Only when you've already said your converting the Bluray. There are a handful of titles that do this so don't be surprised when the clerk says that title is 5.00 to convert. Just pay it and contact Vudu for a 3.00 credit nothing more you can do trust me I've contacted Vudu on a list of titles that do this but so far they refuse to change or update the price of 5.00 on a Bluray conversion to HDX.

At Wal Mart don't ask for HDX to the employee it just shows SD or HD only trust me HD means HDX.

Another tip is a title will have many different versions (Theatrical, Directors Cut, Extended super duper James Cameron personally made love to this edition disc) when at the photo center and you tell the clerk the title make sure they put in the correct version. Take Aliens for example if you have the special edition with 23 extra minutes and you just tell the clerk Aliens they may just select the standard edition and your screwed because you won't know till you get back home so verify with the employee which version they are clicking because once paid for the employee cannot remove a title or make a switch to a different version of a movie (trust me on this one it is completely out of the employees hands and there is nothing the employee or manager can do about it).

                        Hope this helps you guys.
