Re: Did anyone tell Walmart Stores about this?!

I just wanted to add that I've been having similar problems. I don't want to complain just to complain but I'm so sad I haven't been able to use the D2D service yet that I can't stand it.

I went to Wal Mart on Monday around three in the afternoon and was told they weren't ready because the necessary paperwork wasn't completed but if I came back tomorrow they should be ready. I went back on Tuesday and this guy had no idea at all what I was talking about. Even after I pointed to the signs that were up everywhere he kept stating he had never even heard of it. I'm going to try again today but I don't have much hope.

It's frustrating because I have three hundred titles that I want to convert (not all at once but still...) plus I've been talking it up and telling friends about it and talked several of them into trying it but every time I report a problem they grow less interested. This bothers me because I really think D2D is a great idea and I want it to work.

I'm really excited about D2D. I want to spend my money using this service. I just can't find anyone in the store who knows enough about the product to take it and I'm a little concerned is all.

Re: Did anyone tell Walmart Stores about this?!

I went to my local Wal Mart yesterday to upgrade 3 DVDs, and the associates had no idea what the program was. Once I showed her the sign, she went to get a department manager. They struggled trying to figure out how to get it to work. They were abe to find the instructions but they couldn't figure out how to import the movies into my existing account. After waiting for about half an hour, I told them I would come back after they had a chance to learn how it works.

I want this to be a success, but they need to fix this training problem, and they need to increase the selection a lot.

Yeah, I'm excited about this program but I left empty handed on Monday - perhaps this is just initial growing pains and everything will be a piece of cake soon. I'm more than ready.

They seem to be slowly getting better. I took some more movies in to the same walmart I had success with last time and was out within 10 minutes. Last time it took about 20 minutes and three employees to figure it out. I called the first, closer, walmart and they are still clueless. The photo center told me it's an online only program, so obviously no training going on at that store.

Today (Wednesday) I called the store I left empty handed on Monday. Spoke with the Photo Center manager and she says they are not ready. No one has been trained.

Re: Did anyone tell Walmart Stores about this?!

I called 4 stores in Memphis TN, 2 said not ready and not trained, 2 had no ideal what I was talking about. I stopped by another one on my way home, big sign was up in the front of the store and one next to the photo center but like yesterday employee said had not idea and said could not help me.
Boy the studios and walmart did a great job advertising this but forgot about putting a plan in place for customers to actually use the service. I tried calling walmart customer service was on hold for over 11 minutes and I finally hung up. For once I actually thought the studios would make sure this was done right and once again a let down. This service will not last long and everyone will be wanting itunes digital copies to come back again.

Re: Did anyone tell Walmart Stores about this?!

Finally success. Called the closet Walmart to me and still they don't have their act together. The second wasn't ready as well. It was the third Walmart and furthest away that when I called the photocenter the associate knew about the program and said they were ready to accept discs. They haven't had anyone come in so he said it would be their first to try it out. So I drove to the location and in less than five minutes had four DVD's upgraded to HD added to my collection. Very easy and painless. I hope the other location can figure it out soon. I have plenty of discs to add to my account.

Calling ahead is a really good idea. I drove over to two local
Walmarts and no luck. (I really think the staff is anxious about
all of this). I will try again tomorrow (definitely calling ahead,
                  definitely, definitely).

After 2 calls to walmart customer service and I received 2 calls from store management basically they said it could be a week or two before they are ready for this in the Memphis, TN area. Was told they should not have put the signs out advertising this until they were ready. I figure I will check back in a month to see if they have gotten their act together.

I went to the nearest wallmart from my house. The process was Fast and Easy and I was her first customer who needed Disc to Digital service. As I left the counter, I mentioned to her(old nice lady) again that "I was her first" bwuahahah and she said that's a good one.

Re: Did anyone tell Walmart Stores about this?!

I went in for my third group of movies today. The lack of training at walmart actually ended up working in my favor. I had to wait about half an hour because they couldn't figure out the password. I was actually just about to give up and go home when they managed to figure it out. The manager was one of the people trying to get it figured out and she offered a 10 percent discount so I got about $7 off. When I got home I was putting my movies back in their cases and I realized they forgot to stamp them. Discount plus no ugly stamp on discs. That made up for the 20 or so extra minutes I had to wait for them to find the password.

Re: Did anyone tell Walmart Stores about this?!

I'm sure with the people from Vudu especially Dan Hatman advising the right people inside Wal-Mart's corporation of the lack of training and not being ready for the program the issues will resolve eventually. As with any new service there are bumps along the way that will smooth out. I worked for my local Wal-Mart store 4 years before my current position with the cable industry and it can depend on how good the local management is as to whether they are ready or not. Meaning store manager up to district manager. Kudos to my local Wal-Mart's management team and my former associates for being ready and trained for disc to digital. My movies are being processed as I type this message.

Thank you Vudu for a great service. I love it. Keep up the good work.

                          Sandra :-)

Re: Did anyone tell Walmart Stores about this?!

                            Hello all!

I currently work in the Photo Lab as a Photo Specialist in Porterville CA Wal Mart, and on the behalf of all the clueless Photo associates out there, im truly sorry for all the hassel you guys and gals are going through.

I myself have known about this service for about 2 months now, and been trying to keep updated on all the steps to making an order (though i have not had one customer come in to use the service .)

I can somewhat understand why some of these wal mart associates might not know about this (My manager didnt know until i told her lol). But really the Management should have been prepared and theres no excuse for that.

The process is alittle confusing at first but give it by the end of the month, im sure a majority of the stores will be up to speed on it. Just make sure to call ahead to see if your local wal mart can do it.

If you guys have any questions about the process, ill try to answer as best i can!

I saw a bunch of commercials for the service today on TV. If only all our wal mart visits went as smoothly as it did for the family in the commercial

Maybe the employees will see the commercials too and know what we are talking about when we go in. For now I'm sticking with the 2nd closest walmart to me. I asked the girl who was there what days she worked so I know when to take my movies in to her.

Re: Did anyone tell Walmart Stores about this?!

I've been to seven Walmarts and two were able to help me.
Three have not heard of the service.
One had not received "the kit" yet (I assume the stamp).
One told me to come back in an hour because they were
                                having computer problems (uuuuggggghhhh).

Having said that -- for me, having 31 movies on the cloud is
really nice and was worth the hassle. My internet connection
can support HDX and on my 46" tv it looks like blu-ray to me.
I upgraded 5 movies from SD to HD and am thrilled at the price!

I doubt I'd ever buy just the digital version of a movie. (Its not
cost effective, and I like having the backup of a real disk). That
may change in a few years :: shrug ::
