The quality is determined by the studio and the studio offered SD at the time of the redemption. So, there isn't much VUDU can do to help get you upgraded. Your best bet would be to contact the studio's support team. They may not be able to upgrade, but it never hurts to ask.

Tried that. Didn't work. They actually referred back to Vudu. It wouldn't be so bad if Warner allowed us to re-add new codes to upgrade our SD copies, but according to them once we have an SD copy there's no way to add another code to get HDX. We would have to wait until Vudu offered the movie again and purchase at full price. I'd even be willing to pay the extra $2 to take my movies to disc to digital, but Warner stopped adding newer releases.

Hmm, that sounds kind of strange because my UV copy of MI Ghost Protocol is both SD and HDX because I was able to do 2 different codes (one came back as SD and the other came back as HDX). We should be able to do that with other movies as well but I guess that also depends on the studio. MI Ghost Protocol is a Paramount movie.

Yep. It's just Warner. It's strange since they seem to be one of Uv's biggest supporters, but they won't allow more than one code on flixster. I've double checked and the other studios allow multiple redemptions. Just not Warner.

And Warner owns Flixster, so they don't have much of an excuse not to support it

I honestly believe that if a studio decides to replace originally redeemed from blu-ray SD files with HDX files they should automatically replace our SDs with HDX.

So far I have only seen it happen ONCE. The Extended LOTR Fellowship of the Rings SD was replaced with HDX. I thought that was amazing for the studio to make that happen.

As the files get better and the service gets better, we early adopters should automatically receive the improved files in our collections.

So what's our current recourse? Purchase the codes from someplace and hope they come back HDX? I'm not going to a Green Lantern again and its not D2D...

Wouldn't do any good anyway. Green lantern is WB and won't allow multiple redemptions through flixster.

Just posted this in the "Current UV Copies what format SD or HD" post but thought I would re-post it here too because it is very pertinent as CN D2D gives us some options we didn't have before:

"I have 6 Warner Blu-rays that came with UV copies that are in SD. Crazy Stupid Love, Dolphin Tale, Green Lantern, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 & 2, and Journey 2. Of those only Harry Potter Part 1 is available on Vudu D2D. I tried the others on CinemaNow D2D and all were available for D2D in HD from the DVD except Journey 2 (which I couldn't test because I didn't get the combo pack) and Crazy Stupid Love which is only available in SD oddly. I will wait to see if these titles are added to the Vudu at home D2D service but if not I will just upgrade the DVD's through CinemaNow. I know I shouldn't have to since I should have HD rights anyway but I doubt Warner will do anything to throw early adopters like myself a bone. Also even if I wanted I couldn't buy most of these titles in HD Ultraviolet so this may be the only option."

CinemaNow has also pretty much been my only recourse to getting these early titles in HD.

The second title is actually on CinemaNow's D2D list but does not redeem with their software.

I have 2 Universal movies from Blu-ray that redeemed in SD. Hop & Cowboys & Aliens. I emailed Universal support about both through two different tickets and was given a new HD code for Hop but was told Cowboys and Aliens wasn't available as a HD redemption. Emailed the rep that gave me the Hop code to confirm if this was truly the case with Cowboys and Aliens.

Also I emailed Flixster about my SD UV copies from Blu-ray and got this response:

"Thank you for your inquiry regarding Disc to Digital. At this time we are working on enabling this UltraViolet? Digital Copy title to an HD format for your Blu-ray purchase.

We value customer feedback like yours and are continually working to improve our services.

We appreciate your patience. Thank you for contacting us.

- Flixster Customer Care for UltraViolet?"

So they are working on it, but will it ever happen is the question. Seems like someone else in the forums got a similar response a few months ago as I recall.
