Used bluray

I just bought E.T. used at a brick and mortar store but it didn't include the UV code. Is there a way I can locate the code on the disc or contact the movie studio to see if the code has been redeemed yet?

I'm gonna say 'No' on this one. Think of the two items (disk and code) as seperate licenses. Each UV insert has a code and someone gets paid minimum wage to make sure one insert gets in each case...that is where the connection between the two ends (for now). You may be able to get a code from certain vendors online, the legality of doing so is generally questionable, but not as mich so for you, since you own the movie for which you wish to buy a code.

I wonder if someone else redeemed it? I don't think every time a Blu Ray is sold, a new code is generated. I recommend new Blu Rays if you want UltraViolet codes.

If you mean re-sold, absolutely not, but each new copy should have a unique code on the insert. And absolutely buy new if you want a guarantee of getting a code. I have had similar experience with Xbox games, I buy used and rarely do they have unused codes for extra content.

In reference to my post above, I have used Family Video (who I presume is a regional rental operation) to get UV codes for movies I bought used that had no code (I see nothing wrong with that, as you are matching an eligible disc to an unused code). I got SD codes from them, but if you called to order, they might make sure you got a code from a Blu Ray.

The OP said he bought a used copy. I would not expect to get a code for that. If I did, I'd consider it a bonus, or an oversight.

As far as disc to digital goes, if the disc is bought and sold 10 times before someone took it to Walmart, not a problem. But once that disc is redeemed, it's done. A future owner can't redeem it also. (That said, I saw Walmart stamp my DVDs, but I can't see where they stamped them.)

I you buy a used Blu-ray and it has a usable UV code that is just simply pure luck. You can't demand it or expect an useable UV code with a used BD. The studio does not owe the second owner a useable UV code.

The Walmart stamp is usually on the back side of the disc. The playable side where the disc data is read from.

Alcohol and cotton ball is your friend for removing stamp.

Why would I need to remove the stamp? Is it causing the disc to spin off balance?

If you buy a used disc in the hopes of doing D2D and see it has been stamped already then thats what you need to do.
