Re: What about digital to digital?

This is a request/suggestion for Vudu from a customer. If they don't want to do it that is fine. If other customers don't want, or care about, having this feature then why not simply ignore the post instead of making dumb or smart-*** comments?

The more movies I have on Vudu the more time my family will spend on Vudu and the less time we would spend on Amazon and other competitor websites. For this reason alone I would think they might be interested in allowing us to pull digital purchases over to their website.

I just want to move/copy them from Amazon's cloud to Vudu's cloud without having to purchase a second copy of the movie.
The titles and formats supported are really not up to Vudu, they are up to the content owners/studios. That said (and totally my opinion) I would imagine the interest in conversion of VHS to digital is way too small to make all of the effort, contracts, logistics, etc required worth it

I will never understand why you think your requests are more effective if you tell Walmart and Vudu how it will benefit them. Make your requests. Let them figure out if they're profitibale, and how best to incorporate your requests into the service. They're pretty smart people. They'll implement your suggestions that will make them money. I guarantee it.

I made my simple request/suggestion for VUDU, later I came back and had (or decided to) to defend my suggestion by explaining the benefits to YOU! My comments are not for you to figure out or even understand. I will never understand why YOU always have to make useless and senseless commits in other folks threads.

As a customer, I am asking for what I would like to see. Just as I've done in the past...and guess what? They have added several of the things I've asked for.

Re: What about digital to digital?

I never said your ideas shouldn't be implemented. What I said is that Vudu is in a much better position than you are to know what is profitable and worth implementing. You may be lacking in information to know what would be beneficial to WalMart and/or Vudu.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to continue waiting (a half hour so far) for someone at Walmart who knows how to do disc to digital so I can get out of here.

Re: What about digital to digital?

I think that is an idiotic comment...of course I don't know what would benefit Walmart/Vudu. I never said I did.

I only asked for something that I know would benefit me, and something that should AGAIN be very easy to implement should they choose to do so. And, if it can benefit me than it has to be something that would benefit others out there still hanging on to VHS tapes or others out there who have purchaed digital movies on Amazon or other sites. And most anything that benefits customers will also benefit a company.

You also claim at the end of the last post what might benefit Vudu.

No, you are being deceptive...or do you not understand PLAIN ENGLISH? Perhaps a quick English lesson is in order here...

Do you know what the phrase "I would think" means? It does not mean that I know better than Vudu what would benefit them. It means exactly what I have stated today and in the past...most anything that benefit the customers will benefit the company and build customer loyalty. I think (or feel) that this would be a great addition to D2D.

What I didn't say is that THIS WOULD BENEFIT them...why did I not say that? Because I don't know that for sure. However, I have a pretty good idea that it would. That is my opinion. What is fact is that this would benefit me and possibly other customer.

                      Jake,
Thanks for posting...could you help me understand why it would be difficult to allow us to take in a copy of a VHS tape or show proof that we own a digital copy on Amazon.com instead of a DVD. A person at Walmart can verify that just as easily as they can a DVD. As long as the movie is on D2D then I simply don't understand why the format should matter.

Walmart only cares that we own the movie. Sure, today they are looking at DVDs and Blueray disks. But are they not capable of looking at a VHS tape or even movies listed in our Amazon.com video library?

But like you indicated, you are really sure about how much effort it would take or how many customers would take advantage of this.

I would like to go on record about that latter...I would take advantage of this and I would no longer have a reason for using Amazon Prime if I could pull my digital movies over to Vudu and I would have about 32 more movies to add if I could convert VHS.

VUDU Engineering please get this done ASAP. He's offered $3 per title instead of the usual $2 per title. That's a whooping $32 extra profit waiting if he can take his prized collection of 32 VHS tapes to the photo center at Walmart.

LMAO! I just could not resist!

Amazon doesn't do the whole UV thing, but that shouldn't really matter since I am talking about D2D. I have purchased several movies from Amazon over the years and most I have been able to take to Walmart and convert to digital for viewing on VUDU. Now I want to take my VHS and digital copies in and convert them. As long as the movie is available on VUDU for D2D I don't see why we can't do this.
Difficult to authenticate was towards digital to digital, it would require some way for Vudu to login and verify your purchases. VHS could be as easy as DVDs, but I never addressed that point.

Yes Amazon hasn't implemented UV (yet) hence I said "when." Again your goal is to get your Amazon digital copies over to Vudu/UV right? Well that's why I said when Amazon implements UV next year, eligible titles will become UV and thus there is your D2D because those titles are now in your UV account too. You need to read more closely prior to replying. Anyway about VHS upgrades, VHS is dead and I don't ever see a VHS to UV offering being made.

I have several hundred laserdisc I would like to D2D so I don't think request/suggestion from a customer is crazy and should be subject to a attack or attempt at humor from other members.

I read your post closely...yes, I want my Amazon movies over on Vudu. Yes, "some" are UV but some are not. But they all are acually available for D2D.

I agree that VHS is "dead", however we still have some and the kids still watch VHS from time to time. I am wanting to get them on Vudu and I don't want to have to buy the movies again. I am not asking for anything special to be done regarding VHS, just to allow them to be accepted during the Walmart authentication process and nothing more.

What I am thinking is that we should to be able to build our list of movies to convert to digital and include some VHS titles and titles that are in our Video Library on Amazon and present proof to the Walmart photo lab that we do indeed own a copy of these "movies" with any discrimination concerning media. The only thing that I see would change is that Walmart would allow VHS tapes to be presented as proof or would allow us to log into our Amazon account and show them a title in our video library.

I agree that I probably will not see this happen. I also agree that if Amazon ever implements UV that I should see those titles that are on UV show up on Vudu. But because this seems like such a simple thing, I thought I would post it to see if I could get some Vudu responses. Looking at the bigger picture and remember that I am only one person and Vudu has many customers who might want to be able to do this. With that in mind, it also seems to me that it would benefit Vudu by allowing everyone to pull most of their collection over to their site. The more time we spend on their site the more likely we are to buy new releases from them instead of other sites that we frequently visit due to having part of our collection on other sites.
