Re: Flixster has Disc to Digital Beta

On a whim, I decided to re-try some of the discs that I'd tried earlier but using a different drive.

These 5 free credits are not good for any HD titles, as near as I can tell, and there's a disclaimer saying if you buy an HD title, you get the standard 'definiton' version as well.

So... there doesn't appear to be a lot of quality control going on with the programmers over there at Flixster.

Of the titles I re-tried, only one came up with the option to use one of the credits (CINDERELLA MAN) and it was only for the standard definition version. In total, I probably tried around 16 titles, all of them on Vudu's Disc-to-Digital list but many of them did not appear on Flixster's list.

I really hope Vudu is planning to launch their program soon because I don't think I'll be getting much use out of Flixster's...

Yes on my main account but my dummy account did not. Pretty much everything is sd so far so I just used 3 if mine on some movies I was holding for vudu's d2d. They only seem to work with paramount and warner movies.

I had 5 free credits when I launched the program earlier. Haven't found a use for them, though.

Did a bit of testing with this tonight. J. Edgar can be done through this service, but not if you already have it in your UV library (I have SD and wanted to try to update to HD). If you have an SD copy in your account it will give a message about it not being available. If you do not have it in your account (I created a dummy account) it will show as available, but only in SD. Seems like the service is either A: Not wanting you to duplicate or B: having the same crappy flixster problems where you owning a SD code precludes you from ever upgrading the movie to HD though them. I will try some more and see what I find out. Most stuff I've seen so far is only SD though, so I may not have any luck.

I just got the option. So I tried some of my discs and it read them fine but nothing was available as disc to digital.

One option I like, and I hope Vudu adopts this as well, is that if a d2d is not available it gives you option to email you when it is available.

Same here. Put in about 6-7 DVDs so far and nothing... The Vudu app can't get here soon enough.

Finally appeared for me too. Tried the 6 DVD movies left in my Vudu D2D list. Three of them were Fox so not supported. Two were Paramount and there was only as SD copy available so I didn't do them. And the last one was Sony and it wasn't available for D2D, but it offered an option to buy the HD version at a price higher than Vudu. So this was a bust for me.

Fascinating... I am now seeing the Add to Collection functionality in the Flixster app.

Of course, it doesn't recognize CRAZY STUPID LOVE or JUSTICE LEAGUE: DOOM!

I also had five credits. When I converted a DVD to high def it charged the $5 and subtracted a credit. That doesn't seem right.
