The Fandango at Home Forums are designed to help viewers get the most out of their Fandango at Home experience. Here, Fandango at Home customers may post information, questions, ideas, etc. on the subject of Fandango at Home and Fandango at Home -related issues (home theater, entertainment, etc). Although the primary purpose of these forums is to help Fandango at Home customers with questions and/or problems with their Fandango at Home service, there are also off-topic areas available within the Fandango at Home Forums for users to chat with like-minded people, subject to the limitations below.

    It's more of a matter of:
    • HBO being owned by Warner
    • Flixster being owned by Warner
    • Warner not wanting to give a service (Vudu) in direct competition with its own online streaming service (Flixster) the same access to video content as through their own service.


    It is for this very same reason that I am pretty sure I'll never be able to watch my copy of Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut in Vudu...it's more than just a mis-communication between HBO and Vudu.

    Wouldn't be the first time CS lied or was misinformed. When you redeem the code it very pointedly lists VUDU under digital copy, and Flixster as the Ultraviolet copy. If it was a simple matter of an incorrect code why would VUDU show up under digital copy with iTunes and Amazon? Maybe they are waiting for the correct code, and they will get it after the exclusivity deal with Flixster ends. Or maybe I'm wrong and they are just taking their sweet time fixing it.

    That's how it looks from the cynical end anyway.

    But wasn't it said in this thread earlier that it was a matter of the ID numbers being enabled? Why does HBO allow a UV copy through Flixster then? They don't seem completely opposed to UV. I don't mean to be combative, I just would like to gain a better understanding on this

    Right around...when MGM becomes a UV studio. When Amazon adds UV compatibility. When Ultraviolet Players come out. When the common file format comes out.

    Or basically never, or a really long time after its been announced.

    I also contacted them on 4/28 and this is the response i just received today (yesterday) on 5/1,

    Thank you for writing to HBO.

    We do plan to enable UV support with Vudu! In the meantime, you can take the digital copy code (the same one you used on Flixster) and use it to get the same program digitally on Vudu through the same HBO Select website. We do hope this helps!

    I sent HBO an email asking them to give VUDU the correct ALIDs for their shows, so we can have ultraviolet access to HBO shows via VUDU. Maybe if we get enough people to contact them they will oblige.

    Has there been any movement on whether TV Series will ever become D2D? This effects me buying it used at a good price or having to pay full price to get the code extra.

    Nope! If you redeem via VUDU it will not show in your UVVU locker. You will have to use the same code on Flixster for UV but your UV members can only watch it on Flixster, which sucks.

    I don't think so. HBO finally gave me another code, which as I mentioned above I took straight to Vudu's redemption page (despite HBO's instructions), and that finally gave me a copy on Vudu, but now the only copy in my UV locker says it's from Flixster (from my first redemption attempt, where the Vudu redemption failed).

    I got a response back from HBO Select as well, which was to simply go redeem the code again for Vudu, which of course states its already redeemed. Waiting for another response from them, if I can at least get another code, I can add my Vudu account, which is what I watch all the movies on(no app for Flixster on my TV or Xbox\PS3).
