I was actually REALLY brassed off by one of those the other day. I bought a brand new Blu-ray, it had a yellow & purple "digital copy" sticker on the front of it, which is SUPPOSED to mean UV-compatible. But, no, they co-opted the color-scheme and it was a "VUDU Digital Copy" of something that's NOT yet UV. I was pretty brassed off after I redeemed it went to my UVVU account and it wasn't there... Then looked at the package and was like, yeah it's a uv-- WTF? There's NO UV "symbol" on it, just the UV color scheme.

To me, that's pretty blatant false advertising or bait & switch. I think it was X2: X-men united, which is apprently not cleared for UV yet. Yeah, I was pretty irked... Still kind of am. If they're going to use the UV digital copy gold and purple logo, it should damn well be UV-compatible, or that's basically fraud. I was not amused... Hopefully the rights clear eventually (most of the other X-men movies I think have) and it CONVERTS to UV and goes into my locker. 'Til then, well at least I get to stream it, even if the other members on my UV account DON'T... =o\

I remember reading something about the digital prices being set by the price of the disc. They didn't want to undercut the disc prices, since they are still such a money maker for the studios. Plus large retailers like Walmart were dead set against competing against digital sales. They make a lot of money and have a lot of clout on the studios too.

If disc sales continue their slow decline, it's just a matter of time before digital will be the only option for some content.

I just hope it will be UV digital. At least sometime in this decade.

I do think their end-around faint with the DigitalCopy+ path will only end making them face the inevitable at a later date. They will need to embrace DECE membership, the same as Toshiba needed to ditch their HD DVD and concede defeat to Bluray Disc.

Both the industry and the consumers are best served with a single standard for EST and digital copy redemption and UV has become that standard, without question.

This battle is over. Now it is just time for the losers to pony up to the bar and join the club. It may be they pout about it for awhile, but as you suggest, there is soon going to be simply no other choice.

How about the standard fee of $2 or $5 to upconvert? That is all I am going to pay! I have paid Disneys premium prices for years and any more than everyone is getting is ludacris! No need to price gouge kids! Thats wrong!

You should see the percentage increases they applied overnight with no warning at their parks a week ago. It varies by park and ticket but some are upwards of 20% increase. They raised parking and other park related costs as well. It's Disney. The Mouse loves money.

awe, I want to go. They can have all my money if they let me back on the property. I love the reedy creek recreation district and would be a citizen if there were a way.

I had no idea running naked through Magic Kingdom was so frowned upon that they'd ban you for life
(Not that that's what happened, I'm just saying)

in my case, there was a goat involved. I will leave the details to your imagination.

Security didn't find it as amusing as I did. Something about children being scared for life, or something...

It really hurts that I may never (in my lifetime) get these non-animated Disney/Touchstone/BVHE movies on Vudu via D2D.

...a moment of silences please...thank you.

That ship will dock Q1`14. Have no fear.

The mouse has no recourse. The screws just need be tightened a bit more till "Uncle" is cried.

Do you really believe this? Disney knows they have us by the short hairs in part thanks to our children.

                            really, really.

They have stock holders, the same as everyone else.

It is just a pendulum swing which is still in progress. Tick tock. They'll cave too and fall in line with the rest of the studios.

                            Q1`14. Mark my words.

I wish I had the same optimism as you. At least they're doing Vudu digital copies now so if The Lone Ranger is good (in my view) I'll be making that purchase. I already pre-ordered Iron Man 3 and have OZ the Great and Powerful in my Vudu account. I actually do have some Disney owned content in my Vudu account just not much. I can count all on one hand.

I expect Disney will have some new packaging of VUDU copies (DC+) with Blu-ray discs for older popular titles. Disney is famous for repackaging. I'm sure they'll be priced in usual Disney fashion ($$$).
