Seeing an Unrated version available, even if not in D2D, just boils my blood, but then I've seen quickly enough that if I buy the Unrated version that it is typically not UV so it doesn't cross the various partner providers and locks me into one provider or the other for that copy.

Yes, I too agree. However, Bluray when it first came out had the same problem. Say I wanted a certain cut of a movie in Bluray, but only other cuts had been made available. UV has had much faster acceptance/conversion ratios then Bluray.

in 18 months, UV has gone from its first title to over 8000 and still growing very quickly. This is a faster acceptance then Bluray.

Also, with Bluray, there was no upgrade path. I did not have the option to bring in a DVD copy or mail it in somewhere and for $5 get it upgraded to Bluray. UV is the first to offer such a program and in my estimation, it is an awesome deal.

do be patient. The UV catalog will continue to expand. However, I do agree it is frustrating to no end not being able to convert an unrated or director's cut when that is what you own. Even worse when the unrated or directors cut is in the streaming provider's catalog, but a D2D lands you on a theatrical version.

I am not sure, but I think the D2D program was designed with these hammer-and-tong decisions built in to streamline the conversion process. The D2D program is really a low cost incentive program which is designed to spark interest in UV while they continue to drive for critical mass. We get to take advantage of a low cost incentive program, but there are these caveats that need be swallowed, unfortunately.

I know what you are doing this weekend..... Watching 1080p movies...

Alas, sadly your foe is relentless. I am just getting back from Walmart where I added seven. All are HDX upgrades from DVDs.

    1) Taking Lives (Warner Bros. - 2004)
    2) The Stepford Wives (Paramount - 2004)
    3) Peter Pan (Columbia - 2003)
    4) Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (Mandate Pictures - 2007)
    5) Surf's Up (Columbia - 2007)
    6) Nanny McPhee (Universal - 2005)
    7) The Road to El Dorado (Dreamworks - 2000)

My odometer now shows 114, but I get to add +3 for my Indiana Jones collection and +3 for my Mission Impossible collection, bringing my actual total to 120.

Keep trying though and maybe one day you will be as cool as me.

I'm now over 400+ titles. My VUDU Movie page, says 401 titles, but I know I have a bundle or two, and then I have about 20 or so TV Seasons, so I would estimate that I'm now sitting at: 425 UV Titles!

I only stated collecting titles in August of 2012.... I will probably hit 500 by the end of the year, if not more. I've slowed down because I've mostly converted all but 50 or so movies that are not eligible at this time... If Disney joins, I'm sure I'll have another spending spree..... (not looking forward to the cost , but I'm excited to be getting there titles )

One of my other wishes, besides Disney coming on board is that we need more TV seasons to be UV compliant and D2D. There is very little catalog available for TV shows using UV at the moment....

Heh, I thought I was bad for being in the 200+ range. Now up to approx. 268 though that count includes some titles that I have in both SD and HD or HDX, at least as shown through Vudu.

I've got a couple of titles that are only at CinemaNow or only at Vudu and not available on (for example) Flixster, but not that many as I'm trying to hold off on getting anything that isn't UV compatible. That said, I did snag a few things that I'd like to have from either of the partner providers just so I wouldn't be frustrated in not having a flick that I might want to see available when I want it.

My biggest frustrations (besides not having Disney/MGM and many FOX titles available for conversion) have been in not being able to get the Unrated versions of titles via D2D. If I have it on Blu-ray in Unrated, I want Unrated, not Theatrical digital/streaming copies. If/when Disney becomes available for D2D conversion, I'm gonna wind up expanding my collection by approx. 100 - 130 titles pretty quickly. Especially with Pixar titles. I hope Disney cooperates and allows the price for the conversions to be down in the $2 range, but (shhhh!, don't tell them) I'd probably go as high as $5 title for BD -> streaming/digital version for many of those titles if I had to. Beyond that though, sorry, enough of the double and triple dipping. I've paid enough times for these flicks and paying full fare again just won't happen.

Damn on the 3900. I don't think I could even name 3900 movies.

This is old. I'm at 1398 now. I'll break 1400 in April for sure. Other than that I should only go up less than 10 movies a month unless some new studios get added to the back log. As I said before, uvvu.com really sucks when you have a lot. The site is unresponsive most times. Also the flixster site sucks too and will load a random amount of movies each time I unlink and relink my UV account.

When available I went HD. There are a few SDs but before I paid for it I checked CinemaNow and VUDU for HD streams of it then went ahead and got SD for some dvds.

I own less than 50 blurays that didn't come with UV digital copies and over half of them aren't available to be D2D. About 300 of my movies came from UV codes, the others were DVD to HD conversions. I went from 300 - almost 1400 in less than a month.

I too am having too much fun with this. I took my Bluray player into a Pawn Shop. It was sitting in my garage collecting dust for almost a year.

I got $15 for it. The guy at the counter said they stopped taking movies (both DVD and Bluray) and are in the process of liquidating their inventory. He said everyone was dumping their DVDs and going for streaming services and they were ending up with way too much inventory for the decreasing demand.

I took a DVD copy of "Gothika" off his hands for $2.00. It was on my wish list.

I then took it to WalMart and did a 1080p upgrade on it and now have that title in my UV locker.

    Total cost = $7.00 ($2.00 at Pawn Shop + $5.00 at WalMart)

I used the remainder of the $15.00 from selling my old Bluray player to add two more titles from my waiting-to-be-converted-queue.

    I added;
    1) "Horton Hears a Who!" as a $2.00 Bluray to 1080p/HDX UV conversion
    2) "The Story of Qiu Ju" as a $2.00 DVD to SD UV conversion
-This one I was thinking of waiting to see if an HDX version would come out so I could do an upgrade from my DVD, but figured an obscure title from 1992 may be a long wait and decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on an SD conversion to get it into the UV locker.

This brings my title total now to 112.

On Friday (which is my payday), I am going to be bringing in between 4 to 7 new titles from my queue for 1080p/HDX DVD-->UV conversions via D2D.

    Only two days away...

Not in the iPhone/iPod/iPad app, nor on the PC/MAC. Only in the PS3/XBox or Roku. I think the Bluray player app has it too.

Full price for the HDX even if you have the SD version already. I requested we only be charged the delta, but so far no response.

Last year when D2D came out I dropped a pretty penny converting and settling for SD now that I have maybe 20 SD that are now HDX I have to shell out more money. It is better to do it right the first time.

I am slow to pull the trigger on any SD(only) movie for just that reason. I am also pretty thorough with sequels.

    For instance, I have...;

-all three Matrix via D2D HDX upgrades from DVD.
-all three Lord of the Rings via D2D HDX upgrades from DVD.
-all seven Harry Potters via D2D HDX (mix of DVD & Bluray).
-all three Bourne in HDX (two from D2D via DVD and one outright purchase)
-all three Ocean 1x via D2D HDX upgrades from DVD
-all three Spider-man via D2D HDX (two from DVD, one from Bluray)
-all three Transformer in HDX (one from D2D upgrade and two from outright purchases)
-both Fantastic 4 via D2D HDX from Bluray
-All four Indiana Jones in HDX (purchased as a Bundle)
-Both Sherlock Holmes (from outright purchases)
-Both Kung Fu Panda in HDX via D2D from Bluray
-All four Mission Impossible in HDX (purchased as a Bundle)

So, when I hit a title which has sequels, I try to complete the collection before moving on. If I don't have it on my D2D list, I do an outright purchase from Vudu.

That is just how I do it. It is nice to be able to round out the collections this way before moving on and yet another example of the benefit of collecting via Vudu. I really enjoy it.

Some people collect sport cards. Some collect butterflies. I collect entertainment titles that were produced with multi-million dollar budgets.

    Much more fun.
