        pretty slick.

if you have no network connection, it defaults to your "My Downloads" screen. Sometimes the Flixster app gets stuck where you have downloads, but unless you have a network connection, you can not log in to get at them.

Vudu seems to have thought this out and instead just plops you into the download tab if that is the case.

I am glad to finally have this, even if it's 3 months late. I like how well it performs, most of the time. A few suggestions though:

Please add sorting alphabetically, by release date, and by genre.
Let us choose download quality by SD, HD, HDX, instead of the generic good/better/best quality that is there now.
Change the app icon to the vudu logo, so it's consistent with the android app icon.

Here is what the UI looks like on an iPad:

              https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7kG...it?usp=sharing

I agree. A sorting feature would be nice.

Still, wonderful to have in the parental arsenal to keep the kids piped down in the back tier of the MiniVan, or in the shopping cart, or on an air plane, etc.....

I like how they made the UI minimalist, which seems to be the trend now a days. Slick, streamlined, easy to understand and use.

              GOOD WORK!!!

I don't see any option to download HD or HDX on my iPad. I have gen 1, maybe that's the problem?

I do see an option on the "...More" menu, but that seems to be for all movies?

I did download one of my HDX movies, and it was just SD. Even when I played the downloaded version, "SD" was at the top of the screen.

I tried my Apple TV, and it only played sound. I expect mirroring should work, but I just have an iPad 1, so I can't confirm.

My Component cables worked fine. Sound and picture with no problem.

My settings didn't seem to stick, when I set them in the More menu. I thought I had captions set, but I didn't see them on the download movie. I went back to check, but it was set back to automatic and no captions, so I can't confirm if they work. I'll have to download another movie to check.

                    Tsken02,

I have an iPad 3. Also an iPhone 4 and my son has an iPod. All three the air-play sends only the audio to the AppleTV.

Airplay is a propitiatory API. Apple only allows video Airplay from their applications. Others are audio only. This is not a bug in the Vudu app. It has to do with what Apple allows 3rd party software to use of their Airplay API.

SD is too the only option on all three of our portable devices. My wife has an iPad4. I will check on hers to see if there are other options. I had always understood that Vudu was SD only on the portable iOS devices.

                    -Walter

P.S.- on the Monsters vs. Aliens TV show, captions worked fine on the iPad. There was an icon in the top right of the playback screen where you could toggle them on/off.

I would expect mirroring to work, since you are showing whatever is on the screen, and it doesn't need to know about VUDU. But I'll have to leave it to others to prove it out. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5209

iTunes is doing HD on my iPad now. If UV can't or won't do it, the studios have a handicap making it succeed. I'm hoping it's more tied to the Common File Format than to any licensing restrictions. Flixster and CinemaNow seem to have the same constraints today.

I stand corrected. My iPad/AppleTV do not currently have Airplay Mirroring enabled. I can only confirm that using standard Airplay does only send audio to my AppleTV. There is no video. I will try again to see if I can get the mirroring working and if that makes a difference in my home setup.

I do know that they restrict some videos via an AV cable output. If I rip a DVD, put it on my iPad and try to play it via an AV cable on a TV, the iPad barks back an error about it not being available for playback on an external device.

Perhaps mirroring is designed for presentations and such, but has video playback restrictions of some kind.

It looks like there are still no parental controls. Anybody find anything different?

Is there a limit of 5 downloads per movie? If so is this across all ultraviolet platforms or just from Vudu?

                          Thanks

Download limits are for UV overall, but enforcement is TBD. My understanding is the limits don't apply at all until we get the Common File Format later this year.

I did download one movie, Ultraviolet, and I did not get captions as an option when I played the downloaded movie. I did ensure it was set to enable captions (in the ...More settings) before I started the download.
