OZ - Disney's First VUDU code. What's next?

    I could be completley off here, but this is the first title that has reappeared for iTunes since it was "dropped". It is possible, that this title has the iTunes option because it was already released in the past (2011 I think) with a DC (iTunes).

    Disney is making it confusing though.

    If they are going to have a variable list of digital providers, they should at least indicate which ones are available on the jacket of each title so consumers know what they will be buying.

    I got my copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas 3d today. The code it comes with gives the option of Vudu, Amazon or Itunes again. Looks like they did not give up on Itunes after all.

    All the DMR codes you have redeemed and all the movies you have on Disney are available on the Disney site. They already have the info to do a conversion to UV if they wanted to. Problem I have is for properties like Marvel because some of those don't show up on Disney's site.

    I just picked up the Muppet Movie. Redeemed DigitalCopyPlus...only Vudu and Amazon. No iTunes...looks like Apple is being left out in the cold. Now if Disney would make their back catalog available for conversion via d2d I'll be in hog heaven, and a bit more poorer.

    D2D isn't necessarily UV right now as it is, Taken Extended Edition is a prime example. It's available D2D, yet it's not UV on VUDU. I agree with others that Disney will go D2D eventually, but it will be their system on their terms. I don't see them going through another provider to offer D2D. The folks at Disney have always been kind of control freaks.

    Just as an FYI, and no surprise, The Muppet Movie redeemed HDX via DigitalCopy+ website.

    I agree. Those are a lot of hoops to go though. UV is already heavily criticized for being too complicated to setup.

    Hi. Here is an idea that would make disc to digital Disney movies much easier if they want to go with this. Disney has been trying to get into the digital streaming business, take "Disney Movies Online" for example. I was part of this short lived service since it first started. It was linked to Disney Movie Rewards, so if you had a code you could unlock the movie or get a discount. If movies didn't have codes you would have to send proof that you owned that movie over email to get a discount or unlock that movie (could this be the first disc to digital method?). When that service ended they promoted "Disney Studios All Access" A service that never saw the light. I think if Disney wanted to go with VUDU but not want to do Disc to Digital then perhaps linking Disney Movie Rewards to the VUDU service would allow discounts for HDX versions of the Disney movies we have registered on DMR. What do you think? My Disney collection is large and this one time method would relieve us from having to take discs in and out of the computer for hours.

    For Disney classic titles it is worth it to me. I can sell my DVD versions to make some back, especially on the Vaultable classics, if I wait until they go back in the vault I can get even more. Not to mention, if I decide the physical media is no longer necessary at all, I can sell the Blu-ray version too (as far as I know this does not violate any Disney policy).

    Yeah, the Lone Ranger was promoted plenty, but fell just as flat upon release as John Carter did. Almost identical in fact.

    As for the no iTunes option. That is correct. I picked up both the Sword and the Stone as well as Robin Hood this week, both had options for Vudu or Amazon, but not iTunes.

    On the one hand, I think this is glorious news. On the other hand...I swear they had better adopt a disc 2 digital feature down the road. Buying all of these Disney movies again on Blu-ray simply to get a Vudu version of it will really be upsetting.
