While I may not always guess what the Genre is, my kids would rarely know what Genre most of the moves fall under.
I heard you. Probably for your case the A-Z filter can be broken in range like A-H ... and it can help.

BTW, do you guys notice our UI is faster? We implement an enhancement this week.

Actually, I haven't been on Vudu today. But I just tried using the user interface on Roku (wireless) and it does seem much faster. The website also seems a little faster. The problem on the website is that I have to stop scrolling down to let the images fill in so I can see where I'm at in the list. But it does also seem faster.

          THANKS!

Nice feature - sort of? The sort is temporary. I prefer to sort by "Release Date" but I have to make the sort selection each time I log into account online.

I wish the Genre listings were more accurate. For example, there isn't a category that lists all the Resident Evil films.

              RESIDENT EVIL
              Action - 2, 3, 4 & 5
              Adventure - 5
              Horror - 1, 3 & 4
              Sci-Fi - 1, 2, 3 & 5
              Suspense - 2 & 3

And some series get screwed up by alphabetic listings. Jurassic Park 1 & 3 are under "J" and Part 2 is under "L" (The Lost World: Jurassic Park II). Friday The 13th 1-8 are under "F" and parts 9-10 are under "J" (Jason Goes To Hell & Jason X). I know that's the proper way to list titles alphabetically. But it's not the ideal way to sort a large collection.

Someone suggested the ability for users to create their own personalized categories. I'd love to be able to put all my Slasher films and Monster movies in their own groups.

We have requested a new tab under My VUDU after My Movies and My TV called My Collections. The idea is to allow us to create something similar to bundles in that section. If we could pick movies that we wanted to have in these bundles and create our own name for each bundle and arrange the movies within each bundle then I think we would be able to arrange our movies any way we wanted.

I don't know if Vudu will ever give us that or not, but I think that would really set them apart from everyone else.

I do think this will happen and have been giving this some thought myself. I am getting ready to add about 25 more titles and the sorting thing is becoming a bit of an issue.

There is the "Search" feature on all platforms. However, searching using a Roku remote is a rather slow process since each letter is entered via hunt-&-peck instead of a keyboard.

I was thinking that most of my searching with about 200 titles will be easy enough to manage simply toggling between "Alphabetical" (where I like to keep it most often) and "Purchase Time". With those two, I am fine with the current interface for a long while.

However, I can sympathize with someone who has 1000+ titles.

An "On-Deck" option similar to PLEX would be great to get back to a movie you had started to watch and came back to finish. Having to search for 3-5 minutes to get back to a title would be a pain. The Playlist idea seems to be a good one too, but I would have to give that some thought.

Currently, Vudu has a "Recommended" collection based on your viewing history. This is pretty cool and it would be nice to also have one limited to titles I own. For instance, I have been watching spy movies and may have forgotten I own three other ones I have not watched in forever.

Also, a group of movies I own that have never been watched would be a good group to have. PLEX has that too. iTunes flags those as "NEW" titles.

I love that the sort feature has been added to internet browsers! Will it also be added to blu-ray players? I have a Samsung blu-ray player that is running the Vudu app (version 3.1.0) that still does not sort.

I hope they do tagging rather than actual folders -- so that one movie could appear in more than one category. That way you can apply "animated" and "kids" to movies like Cars, but "animated" and "science fiction" to movies like Final Fantasy. And if the tags can be user-created, then you can make one with your kid's name and just add all the movies you think are appropriate.

I agree. That is sort of what I have had in mind also. I may want to have a collection/bundle called "Bond" that contains all James Bond movies and another collection/bundle called "Sean Connery" that contains all of his films. Some of these titles I would want to appear in both collections/bundles.

Furthermore, I would want to be able to set parental controls at the collection/bundle level. Right now I have to always enter my PIN to allow my kids to view kids movies that are unrated. I understand that there are some inappropriate movies that are also unrated, but I would like to have additional flexibilities like this. This would also mean that if we had a collection/bundle setup that didn't require a PIN that the PIN would have to be entered when adding new titles to that collection.

The "PICK 1" concept is difficult for many movies. Case in point, any Stanley Kubrick film skirts lines between sarcastic / dark comedy and historical period adaptation.

"Full Metal Jacket" is a military film, but that is not what the film is about.
