Re: Disney and Vudu - Tell Disney Thank You!

If Disney does start to allow D2D on their past titles, Marvel and Touchstone stuff I may have to call the bank and take out a loan. I'm still kicking myself for not getting those Marvel titles done right when D2D started. DigitalCopy+ was a huge step in the right direction, and the removal of iTunes redemption is even more interesting. I think the real story will be when Iron Man 3 comes out in a few weeks, since I'm assuming that will be DC+ as well. It's one thing to not have iTunes for older titles, but for a newer title like Iron Man 3, it would make a huge statement to not have iTunes redemption. I'm not saying that it would lead to Disney going UV or even start D2D, but it would certainly make a huge statement to the direction of the digital copy market. Not having a redemption for Iron Man 3, one of the biggest movies of the summer, could be the final nail in the iTunes coffin.

I have found truck drivers can be quite benevolent at contributing to my D2D fund, asking only for what I consider to be a small token of appreciation in return. If the Disney catalog does open to D2D, I will just hang out at my local truck stop every night for a month to raise the capital.

This Digital Copy + thing is just a transition to UV. It may take another year, but we'll get there.
If Amazon Instant goes UV, like we expected them to (...or they said they would), the DC+ will be even closer tied to UV and might actually push Disney to fully adopt. We can hope.

I'm beginning to wonder if the MGM thing was a mis-print.

              MGM support would be awesome!

I really want to add the James Bond Movies and the Rocky movies to my UV library

I really don't think Amazon, Google Play or iTunes will go UV in the forseeable future for 2 main reasons.

                  1. Right now UV seems to have a few too many bugs in its system that I don't think Amazon and the others want to claim as their own.

                  2. They are each still pushing their own ecosystems and trying to make money from from sales within the system. The iPad, Kindle Fire, Google Nexus and Chromecast support their enclosed ecosystems albeit with windows for other platforms.

According to the FAQ's on the digital copy plus site, Google Play is now (or will be soon) an option.

                    Disney...??

                        So IM3 had four options?
                        1. iTunes
                        2. Amazon Instant
                        3. Vudu
                        4. Google Play

                        ...right?

This is getting ridiculous Disney. Join Ultraviolet and have one stop shopping. I guess Disney likes to muddy up the water.

exactly. Every other studio has done just that. Makes no sense to me.

I would prefer Disney join UV but at least they are giving choices now instead of pretty much iTunes.
