how to get digital versions of movies I own (hardcopies) without having to pay again.

Hi, I'd like to find out if there is a way I can add movies to my library by using the hard copies I already have (maybe a verification code imbedded into the disk or something) so I can have my movies all in one library without having to pay for the movie again, (regardless of if the charge is a penny or a grand, I shouldn't have to pay to add a movie I already bought a hard copy of into my library). The movies I have in mind if the X-Men series, I have the 3-pack trilogy, First Class, and Wolverine: Origins from bestbuy (may have been walmart, Been a while since I bought it) and it had a code(unused) to get on itunes but that isn't what I want, I wall all my things in 1 place not spread across a multitude of different services,of which I already have the Vudu/UltraViolet/Flixster (all linked).

Sorry for my rambling, But if anyone can offer to me advice how to do this I would be very appreciative. T.I.A

Some companies will exchange an iTunes code for an Ultraviolet code if you call them, but you will likely have to pay again. Not sure why you think you shouldn't have to pay.

The disc to digital program is what you are looking for. You can do this by using the Vudu to go program or going to Walmart.

Honestly you are probably out of luck. Fox is not one of the companies I've heard of that exchanges Itunes codes for UV codes. Contacting them is your best shot though. The only other possibility is if Apple/Itunes joins UV down the line and UV enables your previous purchases/codes. That's a pretty long shot though.

Yes, the Disc-to-Digital program is the closest to what you want, but you have to pay because you're using someone else's program, infrastructure, streaming, etc. If you want it totally free, you'll need to start researching how to rip discs to a media server and set up a player of your own (which can be free if you turn an old PC or Mac into your media player).

Hopefully, UV is at a penetration point now where customer service isn't totally confused by the request.

I unsuccessfully tried doing this with a few titles early on.

Vudu will give you a $2 credit to try their Discovery to Digital conversion app. Finster will convert 5 movies for free using their app (so only). So that's six right there...
