    50% off discount ending 9/30?

It's that time again! As I understand it, the current extension on the "D2D 10+ titles, get 50%" expires at the end of this month.

On one hand, there's a feeling that this can't be extended forever so we might be running out of time. On the other, the lack of progress on updating/fixing the D2D title list leads many to say that this beta period should continue. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I hope it continues, because I continue buying used DVDs to convert in batches. I'm ever going back to redoing some that I previously did in SD. But I really think it's in Vudu's interest, too.

D2D is the single greatest reason I choose Vudu as my video service. The fact that I only had to pay a reasonable fee to convert 100s of movies, rather than rebuy them, sold me on Vudu as the place to house my collection. The fact that the D2D database hasn't changed much stalls us old timers, but I have to believe that many people are discovering Vudu for the first time recently (my Walmart had a big Vudu sign at the entrance last weekend) and could be lured in with a promotion that rewards them for bulk conversions. And once their libraries are in Vudu, they're a customer for good. I think it just makes good business sense to keep it running indefinitely.

The fact that they renewed it for 3 months this time instead of 6 just makes me think this is the end of the line. The service inexplicably remains in beta with hardly anything fixed, but I don't see this promotion as being tied to that. It helped me go from 0 UV titles last summer to about 740 now though so I will definitely miss it!

I went to check if they had updated the page, and found June 30 2014 as the expiration. I thought it said Sep 30 at some point, but the reversion has me worried...

Either way, I'd like to know the answer as well!

The expiration date was never updated on that page for this last extension.

It's finally time to just put this promotion to bed. If a majority of the issues can't be fixed during the promotion then maybe they'll be fixed after it's ended.

So you think they're going to have an incentive to fix things while charging everyone full price? Not bloody likely.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I highly doubt this promotion will end soon. It's a big reason why so many of us use Vudu over the competition.

I'm guessing that might also mean the first time D2D credit might end when the 50% off promo does. But that part hasn't worked for a while I guess.

I have one friend and a couple relatives that were never able to get the $2 credit for their first time disc to digital to ever work. Sounds like no one gets it to work at all now. One of them filed a ticket and got the credit, the others just bailed on the whole thing despite my best sales pitch.

My buddy told me that support responded telling him that he got the credit but it was already expired so they just renewed it. I'm guessing that was a result of the end date never getting updated but who knows. But that never seemed to effect the 50% off promo, so that's strange.

Even if the beta were to end at the end of this month where else are you going to go to get $2 D2D Blu-ray conversions?

Is the $2 discount for the first time use of D2D voided if you convert 10 or more movies and also get the 50% discount? I had $25 in Vudu credits which gave me 10 conversions with the 50% discount, but I went ahead and added an eleventh thinking I would also get the $2 discount and pay $0.50 out of pocket for that conversion but I ended up getting charged the full $2.50.

No, in the past you could use both but I believe the $2 credit hasn't worked for a while now.

Thanks. They should probably remove the "Convert your 1st disc on us" message from the VUDU To Go program if it no longer works.

I am pretty sure the offer is still good, I think it's just broken. I've read that the promo is actually added to your account but it is being added with the old expiration date so it's broken.

I know a few people now that didn't get their $2 credit because of the bug. If you file a ticket they should give it to you. Just depends in if you want to go to the trouble or not. Some of my friends that I referred to Vudu just gave up on Vudu all together after not getting it to work.

I haven't heard anything. Everyone that I've talked to is a tad anxious and getting in their D2D stuff while they can. I did the last of my DVDs that are D2D a couple of days ago, just on the off-chance that the discount won't continue.
