I have been reading about other members' experiences in getting their movies D2D converted at their local Walmart locations and noticed a lot of complaints. I live in Yonkers, NY and decided to call several Walmart locations before going in to make sure that they could convert some of my movies. I have never been to a Walmart in my life and only purchased 1 item from them online several years ago.
I called my nearest Walmart first, the one in White Plains, but they do not offer the service and don't even have a Photo Center. They probably had no idea what I was calling about. I then called the Walmart corporate phone number to see if they could tell me which locations did D2D conversions, but they had no idea and just gave me several numbers for other local Walmart locations.
I then called 4 New Jersey locations. I called the Teterboro, Saddle Brook, North Bergen, and Secaucus locations. The only 1 of these locations that currently does them is the Secaucus Walmart. When I called this store, the lady at the Photo Center knew about Vudu right away and mentioned the name to me. The Teterboro location had no idea what I was talking about and the guy at the Photo Center told me that he was going to do some research and to call back on Monday. Then one of the other 2 stores, either Saddle Brook or North Bergen, I forgot which one, used to do it, but can't do it anymore because of the "new system."
I already have a Vudu account and currently have 76 movies on it. Some were purchased from Verizon FiOS and Flixster and some were included with BD purchases, and the others were purchased directly from Vudu with the online D2D process. I want to convert 43 movies and asked the lady at the Secaucus store how long it would take. She told me that it takes a while because they have to enter every title in the computer. I don't know if she just meant the name, or the actually disc. I already put the names of all 43 titles in the D2D site and they come up when I sign in. I am going to be taking all of these discs inside a spindle and will bring the printed disc list from the Vudu site. How long will the process take? The Secaucus store is a Supercenter and is open 24 hours a day, but the lady told me that the Photo Center is open 9AM to 9PM everyday. She told me to go in the morning, preferably on a weekday, since I have so many titles.
Thanks for reading and please let me know about your experiences and any recommended D2D Walmart locations around the NY metro area.
