I have a few questions about this whole disc to digital thing, that I can't seem to find a definitive answer for that is confusing to me. My apologies if the answers to these are obvious, but I am new to this Vudu thing and have never given any of this any thought before a few days ago when I finally decided to take the plunge into this whole digital world of streaming movies.
I have a bunch of blu-rays in my collection that came with digital copies and have that Ultraviolet code inside the sleeve. I have taken those discs and punched those codes into my account here at Vudu and now now have the digital copies in my ultraviolet cloud. Easy enough.
I also have other blu-rays that did NOT come with the digital ultraviolet code in the sleeve and a few that have codes that have already expired. However, when I look up those movies here at Vudu.com via the standard search function, it shows that those movies are indeed ultraviolet movies, as the logo is included on their page when I look them up. My assumption is that perhaps I own an older or different version of the blu-ray than the one that comes or came with a code?
At the same time, there is also this "disc to digital" search function here at vudu so you can find out which movies are available for the standard disc to digital option (which you can either do by taking the physical copies of the discs to Walmart or using your own DVD/BR drive).
My question is if a movie is listed as being ultraviolet, but does not come up in the "disc to digital" search, does that mean we can't take it into Walmart to get it converted? I thought that all the "disc to digital" meant was that it was a way to pay for the licensing fee to own a digital copy of that movie? I am very confused on the matter and none of the vudu info pages seem to make it clear what all of the scenarios are for this.
The other question I have is, for movies that I need to take into Walmart for the disc to digital conversion (because I don't have ultraviolet codes already for them), once they are converted for me, will they be available in my ultraviolet cloud so that my friends and family can access to them? Or do ONLY the movies activated via entering that UV code go into the actual ultraviolet cloud to be shared with my (up to) 5 friends?
