Maybe they could compromise. 50% off 10 or more DVD to HDX upgrade. If that was the case there are 40-50 i would do tonight. Without a discount i don't think i will ever do them.

I hope they consider bringing the discount back from time to time, perhaps around holidays.

Like many of you I have been converting for awhile. I always take advantage of the 10+ for the discount and had some in my cart but will not be doing anymore. $2 for a Blu Ray I already own and paid good money for is cheaper than regular price but it adds up when you have 100's of discs. Now DVD upgrade at $5 a pop is far too much. My player will up-convert my DVD's nicely but I did like the ability to have them on VUDU. I did a few hundred so far and will hold off now. Hopefully VUDU will have promotion again.

Was it great that it ran as long as it did? Sure, I don't think anyone is arguing against that, but I think it would've been nice on Vudu's part to at least tell us when the promotion was actually going to end. It just randomly ended on 3/23 without a word from them, and now I've got a cart that I can't even push through to purchase.

They... really didn't have to... It was inevitable that it was not going to last and to put off what you wanted, I am sorry that you missed out. But you technically had over 2 years and 2 months to convert everything you wanted from when it was suppose to end. And if you were holding out... again... the promotion was technically past its end date so...

If people are going to completely stop doing D2D because of what the original cost is, then you should have taken advantage of the promotion before it ended. It's really as simple as that. Because that's what the 50% off was... a VUDU Promotion that was extended due to VuduToGo still being in BETA. It's not longer in BETA. Has anything been fixed disc-wise? Nope... but the BETA branding is gone (and has been gone for a while).

Am I upset that 50% off is gone. Sure, who wouldn't. Am I going to be upset with VUDU for removing a promotion after they graciously allowed us to use it WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY longer than it was suppose to ever run? Nope. I'd would rather thank them as it helped me grow my collection for very cheap (cheaper than the other competitors... which no longer offer d2d).

But to those who are going to completely banish themselves from VUDU and D2D, you really should have taken advantage of the promotion. There was more than enough time to get what you wanted for a discounted price.

All I am hearing from people is "I am so ungrateful that vudu didn't allow me enough time to convert my movies for $1. $5 is absurd and I will NEVER do d2d again".
The thing I am just face-palming on is that these are the same people that would complain that 10 dvd to hdx movies for $25 is also too much money.

I got what I wanted out of the promotion, and so much more that I should have ever have done. With the promotion ending, it will slow me down from doing D2D, but I am not going to be angry at VUDU for ending something that they so graciously extended.

Re: Has the discount when converting 10+ movies ended?

It was indeed nice that the "sale" went on as long as it did. The issue is many of my BR do not read so I have to locate regular DVDs to replace them so I can get them uploaded. I've borrowed and rented DVDs to upload BRs that I already have and have not complained about paying extra for the upgrade cost because at $2.50 it is still a decent price to have my movie uploaded. But now to begin paying $5.00 for many of these it really is not worth it. I am not complaining, it is business, someone made a choice. My guess is that most of us never converted fewer than 10 at a time and the accounting people figured out that the "special" became the going price. I typically concert about 300-500 a year. I buy used BRs and DVDs off EBAY and convert them so I have been paying VUDU around $1,000 a year in D2D conversion fees and now I expect that will fall to perhaps $50 as I won't convert everything and anything simply because it is eligible but will limit it to one offs of movies that I really want. The $2.00 BR price is still not bad the issue is older movies are rarely available in BR so this was the best option. Again this is not complaining about a business decision, I understand they must be made. I do think the $5.00 DVD to HDX is likely going to end the entire program. In fact I am not sure D2D makes it to the end of the year as all users are likely those who converted 10+ at a time and they will just stop. We will see. I have almost 1,000 movies in my library so my interest is personal, I need VUDU to make good decisions and to stay in business as I need to make sure my library is always available even if I am not adding to it any longer

a simple yes or no is enough.. we dont need to discuss how cheap or ex*****ve the deal was or "5$ per disc dvd to hdx is too much" etc.........

someone just lock this thread up. no point in keeping this thread up the question was answered. If guys want to reason or justify they are being fair, cheap, ex*****ve etc make a new thread.......

I don't think anybody is debating the fact that it was extremely generous for them to run the deal for as long as they did or that they had the right to end it whenever without warning. I know they had the right but I wish they would have given us a warning it was ending. I have not been using disc to digital for the entire time because I couldn't get my computers disc drive to read it and didn't know why until I researched it just a few months ago.

I'm bummed as well and feel the same way as many - won't be converting in any more DVD's from my old collection. After scanning in a group of DVD's, I just abandoned the cart when I found out.
